Yeti XL Solid Front Axle by Helios RC

That package should have left the truss option open, people will appreciate it more if they can choose which side to put the servo on and saves consumer some money to have to buy extra truss they wanted it on, the right side or dual servo for that matter. I do see that the dual servo mount is a tad higher but what's $4 more added to the package than say buying another truss.

Thanks again Tony. All options are available now.

Received my Helios RC Conversion pieces and all i can say is wow these are nice.

I don't have much 3D printed parts experience but these are very well done and look forward to installing and the durability test. I couldn't imagine the engineering that went into these but very thankful Helios RC ran with the idea. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Observations:

The "Orange" is not quit Orange. It has a lot of white in it that looks closer to an Orange Creamsicle color. I would suspect that the other Colors would be the same so keep that in mind. Once i laid it on the Axle I actually like it.

There was plenty of space to mount my servo or a larger servo in the future.

[FONT=&quot]I mounted my servo and was able to crank down the bolts without stripping the holes. Very solid mounting area. ** Being plastic, if you are a Gorilla it will strip just like the stock plastic.

I think the lighter Orange makes it look a lot better with so much Black.

I started a new job a few weeks ago and time has been very limited but i can't wait to install these.

Agreed it looks nice with all those black, but it looks more like neon orange under natural light

Hey I resemble that comment, it is my first time to work with PA 2200 with clumsy, butterfingered gorilla hands this material is tough, it can stand machining process even at 2 mm thickness.

From a design perspective the servo mount could have been incorporated on the truss and not as a separate piece. I would prefer a trailing arm mount like the original, the design not the position but I'm not a designer or an engineer I'm just throwing ideas out there for version 2???.

My apologies for throwing this premature comment in the progression of my YXL based CMT build I am finding that the version 1 design is a better fit. Primarily due to the position of the trailing arms I can go narrow which is better suited for CMT build or wide for rear steering axle conversion for the YXL, on version 2 it just one position wide. The narrow position makes landing more stable and forgiving on heavier MT parts like the trailing arms, links and everything in between.

I don't know if the version 1 is ever gonna go back in the market I do hope so but I am glad that I had the opportunity to get one before it went out. (hint hint please put it back on market so I can get spares :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:)

Saw this on a 1:1 Cherokee a few years ago and decided to do my Tie and Drag link using Hex rod.

Come to find out the Front Driveshaft pins are longer than the ID of the Axle tube. Pm discussions with TonyFalken resulted in the need to shave the pins and open up the ID of the tube. Once i get the front bolted up i will cut the Hex rod to length, finish that side and do the Tie Rod.

Conversion kit installed and DHawk Drive Shaft installed. I did put a HR Spool in the Diff but forgot to take pics. If the front works out i have one for the back and when i install it i will take pics.

Definitely no time during the week to continue so next weekend i will work on it and should have a roller by the end of the weekend.

Thanks to TonyFalken for sharing his knowledge "thumbsup""thumbsup" and thank you to Helios RC for making such a nice conversion kit. Everything is working out with the kit as i hoped and had little doubt it would. Very nicely engineered pieces. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

where do you find spare axle assemblies to make this work.

You can piece it together from Ebay or chop shop like DollarHobbyz.

Me? If my build doesn't turn out like i want I figured i needed spare parts for my original YXL so i just bought a roller. That way i have 2 of everything.:ror:

The Axial parts you need for this conversion are
AX31259 Front Axle Stub 16 x 39 mm (17 mm Hub) 1 set
AX31089 CVD Dogbone 11x123 1 set
AX31017 Yeti™ XL Steering Knuckle Set
AX31046 Front Pivot Pin 2 pcs
AXA183 M3 x 6 mm Set Screw 2 pcs
AXA1243 Bearing 15 x 21 x 4 mm
AX31201 this part is a little confusing if you look at page 10 and 13 of the manual it says 10 x 16 x 5 mm but the same part number as the one on page 11 which is 8 x 16 x 5 mm which I think is a misprint, I'm pretty sure you need 8 x 16 x 5 mm which on the manual is AXA1225 Bearing 8 x 16 x 5 mm this is the outer bearing on the steering knuckles but I do not own a Kit I have an RTR so please use the caliper to verify.

so these are the required extra parts to purchase if you already have a YETI XL RTR or KIT?

That's for the kit with AX31089 to AX31225 CVD Dogbone 11x123 1 set correction. For the RTR you need to change AX31259 Front Axle Stub 16 x 39 mm (17 mm Hub) 1 set to AX31220 Universal Joint Axle Shaft 15.5x38mm (2pcs).

Can some one post the required axial part list to make a complete rear axle for parts?

tonyfalkon answered your question. What are you looking for specifically?

I do Not currently own a XL however I would like to use the axlel set up on another large scale crawler.

So I want to know what parts I need to buy off the shelf in order to make a complete axle assembly.

Like i replied, it was answered by Tony who knows his Sheat but...

I would like to see the progress build on your large scale crawler. I like big scale builds.
