With my upper trailing rods when I had the straight rod in there it hit the spring really hard so I put it in my bender put about 20 deg zigzag bend in it .now it just touches the spring slightly. I’ll take some pics of that once I get it up and running.

Quick note : I changed the steering link from straight to bent just for the looks, it fit fine nothing touched . I thought it would look better bent ? Oh and I forgot to mention that I found the stock LCC track rods from two different places on eBay . I got the uppers but got ripped off on the lowers. That is why I made my own if anyone is looking for stock uppers I’ll send them to you just pay the shipping.

That will change when you get your XR Steering upgrade. ;-)

Did some fine tuning on my rod bender not sure I’m done messing with it but ya never know. She isn’t putty but she sure does bend rod that’s 1/4 cold rolled steel.

Wheel time. Very little needs to be upgraded for a new guy just learning. Even then, very little needs to be upgraded. Better electronics and tires mostly.

So what tire do you guys recommend I’m sure there is a thread from 2009 but I would like to know you opinions now for the losi nico crawler?

Got the front hoop made for my D.M.G chassis copy made

Regarding the tires, it depends a bit on what rock you're going to run on but I certainly do like the Losi pin tires.

I live in the north east us with lots of sand stone and lime stone and everything’s a little loose or has a layer of fine silt on it. So I may have to run something with a little more lug but I’m not sure yet (still snow on the ground) to try any. What size are ya’ll running ? 2.2 x 3.5 or bigger /smaller? Sorry just asking because the only stupid question is the one not asked.

I don't think it was mentioned but don't expect that servo to last, my stock S605 after adding weight and getting out on the rocks quickly started to develop slop and failed. I would plan for an upgrade.

Thanks for the info Tib,
I wasn’t really expecting any of the electronics to last very long with all the weight going into it .I’m just going to run it till something breakers then replace it.i was going to post on here how long each item lasted till breaking. Then was going to replace with what people recommend from the site and post how it’s doing.

I haven’t received them yet and will have to build them once I do but I’ve got a set of Ernie’s killer axle mods and I found wraith chubs and knuckles with bearings bushings and screws for 30$ shipped . Everything should be here by this coming wed or thurs, I should have my version of D.M.G’s roll cage done by then too. Basically I’m down to mounting the electronics and getting a couple batteries that will fit. My question for that is where should I mount the batt? I don’t think I’ll need anymore weight on the front or do I ? Should I mount it on the rear axle to help the bias ? Or should I mount it on the upper links ? I’m not sure where to put it.

good looking build going on here...inspiring! !

Thank you. Not going too bad for my first crawler. I think I’ve had more fun just making the tools to make the stuff ... lol but that’s what I’m trying to do is inspire people back to the LCC so maybe some of the aftermarket will start making stuff again for the LNC I guess.

So I’m trying to copy D.M.G. Cage but don’t want it to be exact so I think this is good for now, still need to do the ends but the woman upstairs thinks differently... to be continued.... well edit had a few minutes while she was cooking and got the back mostly done

Let me know you opinions please!

Well the tubing bender I made works ok but after using it a couple times . I found that I need to re fab it. I’ve made a change already but it just needs rethought out . And now with one chassis made I kinda know what I need till the this is my change.i moved the stopper guide to the center because while it worked on long beds it didn’t fair too well on close together bends Like making the hood bar for my cage it wouldn’t do it at all .

Here is one I use, same concept as yours. I've built 4 or 5 of these, should be pretty easy for you with your skills.

Front and back.

If you're duplicating bends just mark them on the surface with a sharpie.

Old jack handle, I actually have a spare one of these.

Parts to put it together.

Hope that gives you some fix ideas!!! Happy building. "thumbsup"
Ernie

I like that big board for marking on. Once I get mine to where I’m done messing with it I was going to put a magnetic tape measure on it to duplicate stuff . But yes that’s basically what I’m going to end up with simple but effective! "thumbsup"
