The drive train in the 'stone locked up after about an hour 10. Took it apart when I got home and the gear on the motor is warn (not the plastic spur gear though??) I just snugged the motor up a little closer to the gear and it works again till a replacement gets here. :flipoff:

Wicked fun time.

Priceless that the little bugger still runs. Thanks for posting pics.

I found an idler gear missing four teeth in the trans of the SCX. Already dug up the old Wraith parts and repaired it. Also discovered that the front ring and pinion have a side of crunchy going on. Guess it's time for gears/dogbones/bearings. And maybe a touch looser on the slipper...

And, as unbelievable as this sounds, I finished up a whole nother pack in the Wraith, and didn't break it!

Yeah, you're right that one pic does look pretty darn real, just missing the liscence plate.

I couldn't wait weeks for Hitecs service department, so I broke down and ordered another 7954SH for the AX-10.

Finally got pics to work of last saturday.

The Wraith doing work for a change. For how long, wide, and low it it is, it still crawls alright.

Ordered up some steel trans gears, spare spurs, and some other junk to be better prepared.

I just ordered enough parts to get both rigs back up and running. Well have to have another day at the dam soon.

Trav- I heard you got some new meats for the '86? !!

Yeah, got the last set of 34x9.5's in the country.

But it's all torn apart down to the frame. Got a 8 point and growing rollcage to weld onto it. I just assembled the dual transmissions a couple weeks ago. Now I just gotta fab a dash, mid trans mount and flatbelly crossmember, pedal brackets, steering column bracket, seat and belt brackets, custom shifterage, rear square driveshaft, frame plating, relocate the winch and get 4 hawse fairleads so I can run it either way, install the KYB 12" F-250 shocks and find some 8" KYB's for the front, relocate the gas tank, and battery again, slap on a green Subi hood with a dumb scoop, and a bunch of other small time consuming crap that has turned it into another huge project. Should be fun, it'll be a stock Toyota at heart with junglegym surrounding it.

Really looking forward to having gears and clearance, never really had that before.

There is an RC top truck challenge I'm going to in Manchester NH this sunday the 20th. Hopefully going to run, but none of my rigs fall into their class. I'f anyone would like to carpool I'll be leaving the Barre area at about 6AM sunday to go play with toy trucks.

Anytime you'd like to hit the damn dam just let me know. The brook on Shady Rill just down from the swimming area is really cool too. Right now the whole fleet of 3 is up and operational. It's just all my go fast RC's that are broke at the moment.

Got confirmation from the Tim dude who puts on the Top Truck that I can run my SCX with 1.9s against all the 2.2 rigs.

Couple pics from yesterday.

It's all just sitting there. The cage is actually going about 4 inchs back from this pic. I wish the camera worked tonight, the cage is mocked into place and the trans are hanging from the motor.

It's slowly coming along. I spent hours today flap wheeling the cage to make it look new again. Brian helped me torch/grind all the extra cab and bed mount brackets off. Tomorrow I'm going to "frame snake" (term for fancy wiggly hose on the end of a garden hose) the inside of the frame with it hanging it from a tractor to extract alll the mud from inside.

Showing approximate gas tank location. The spares going flat over the tank so it doubles as my "tag" contact point.

I'm so excited I'll even have to finish this truck.

TTC was a prettty good effort towards scaling down the real thing. I had a blast and will definately be back for their fall event in November. My 1.9 SCX was very much outclassed, which I knew going into it. I feel like I made for a very good show in how to drive elegantly, and even made a few obstacles I was almost certain would prove impossible. I think I finished 6th out of 8 trucks. It was a very laid back atmoshpere with guys who aren't super competitive.

I only finished one course, the mini Rubicon, and that in itself was amazing. You basically had to have a winch to finish some of the courses. Like vertical ledges the height of my truck, or mud thats a foot deep.

I thought I made it through the event unscathed, and then today my servo took a crap. I think it ingested water.

I'll confess, I didn't make the adapter. I bought it from freeclimber01 (I think) on pirate for $275 and a buddy donated the forward cast iron housing trans. I mocked them into place and the rear pinion definately needs to get pointed upwards, and I'll have to redrill the centerpin holes on the axle perches for an extra 1.25" of wheelbase to keep the rear driveshaft somewhat happy. But, at least nothing will hang below the frame except for those darn torsion adjuster bolts.

And I do have whats left of a cab that just drops over the cage, wish I new where the doors went for it.

I'm up for a dam run not this, but next, weekend. The wraith and AX are still working.

Well wear and tear is adding up. I took apart the servo cleaned out the potentiometer and reasembled with lots of lucas and dielectric. Worked great the next day, when my Holmes 35T munched the brushes and F'd the comm.

So I put in a spare Integy 55T with a 21T pinion so that today I could punch a rather larger hole through the front axle case while playing underwater-find-the-rock . Not good when you can see the Ring gear. Now I'm debating modding another new axle housings, or just laying a strip of steel over the bottom of this one with some JB weld for the time being.

And the front tires have plenty more sidewall punctures that need Gooping. The soggy foams make the tires act practically square at times and I'm really sick of taking tires apart to dry foams and fix holes.

So, uh, yeah. Playing TTC with the big trucks adds a lot of wear and tear in a day.

I have one working crawler again. Found a sweet little spot about 10 min from my house. Ill deff be going back here:

Looks like a slice of crawler heaven.

I just finally got the SCX back up and running after new front housing, all front axle bearings, HD front ring and pinion, and literally lining the inside of the front tires with Goop. So it figures it rains all day today.

Sure.

Tuesday and wednesday of next week work for me.

I can't stand not having a wheeling truck going. So I'm looking at welding the rear in the road truck and clearancing for tires...

Whats the ETA on the eightyoddsix? And there isnt anything wrong with having more than one trail rig. Haha.

I got this sweet caddy body at a yardsale over the weekend, but I havent got a chance to test it yet because my dam batteries wont charge. Im still using the charger that came with it... Got any recommendations for a cheap charger? I really dont know what im looking for when ordering them Haha.

But the maxstones still good to go.. Hows thurs/friday look for that spot by gillies..?

The odsix is still at least a month out. But odds are I'll have the DD woods worthy by next weekend.

I could do friday at about 4:45 at Gilles. Didn't I see you in Barre today at 4:45? If you want to hit up east barre dam let me know, I'm only like two blocks away.

A good cheap charger is the Thunder AC6, about $50. If you can tolerate it being only DC (read charges off of your truck battery only) then the cheapy hobbyking one works well at about $25. I can bring one for you to check out and charge your batts while you break the other one.

. I can bring one for you to check out and charge your batts while you DONT break the other one.

Fixed... Haha

I think I can do friday. I think I want the AC charger part... Ill check out that thunder one now.

Yeah I live in Berlin now, so I pass through Barre twice a day to get to work. "thumbsup"

Edit: Might not be able to make it tomorrow... Guess Ill eat my words on this one Haha. Any chance you have a mini servo? Mine straight up died yesterday... I ordered one and ill have it here in a week....

I'll see ya tommarow after work. The red jeep is running strong. Spent almost two hours yesterday dunking it in the river and driving down waterfalls.

I crawled from 4:45 to about 6ish till I couldant sweat any more.. Sorry if I missed ya. Thats a sweet spot, but the gaps are a little too big for the 16. Id still like to check my batteries on your charger to just to make sure it is them and not my charger...
