What did you do to your TRX-4 today?

Yes just the rear, I didn’t get to test out the sidehilling as much as I wanted to today but so far so good. It was wet and slightly muddy out so it was more of a wheelspeed than technical kind of crawl day.

I like your license plate!"thumbsup"

Some cosmetic changes...Blacked out the hinges, cleared the headlights.

As the paint chips off the body from rolling I sand the inside of the body and add color, slowly turning into a camo paint job. Added green color. Prob will add more of the rust/brown color next time.

The Rust-oleum Painters Touch 2x Ultra "bonds to plastic" seems to adhere better and seems less prone to chipping from impact then Tamyia Color paint.

All the colors show where the original Tamiya Color Olive Green paint chipped off the inside of the body from rolling impacts...The new colors sprayed with Rust-oleum has yet to chip.

Wheels are naturally rusting.

**updated 1-29**
added some more rust color...

^^^ That Jerp is pretty effin' ugly, and I mean that in a GOOD way... "thumbsup"

It's really a shame that no-one (not even Tamiya) makes earth-tones or military colors in a polycarbonate-friendly spray can.

You just have to experiment and then cross yer fingers with every crash!

I was extra-disgusted when Pro-line released its "Phase II" of new paint and it was just more of the same ol' boring-ass colors everyone else already sells.

And they're air-brush paints, anyways.

I just can't see buying an airbrush and a compressor and then mixing paints and all, living in my tiny one-bedroom apartment.

I don't mind living in such a small space, but I need a garage or sumthin...

(gripe-gripe....)

Even using rattle-cans is gonna be fun - I spent too much time masking the windows today on my Defender -missed the warm temperature window, getting cold fast and the wind is howling, gonna try turning my shower into a paint booth tomorrow after work!

:lmao:

Replaced 30wt with 17.5wt oil with the softest springs available for the lift kit shocks ... forgot how much she can flex.

Thanks Walsh! If you’re ever in the area bring a rig or 3 "thumbsup"

Also started on this tonight... going to be ugly :ror:

Sweet man - another Commanche! What's funny is, my other color choice was Yellow. The Blue won out 'cause I already had a can of it. Can't wait to see how yours turns out."thumbsup"

1st time poster. Got a rig for my kid at X-mas and then got the bug myself.

Started dealing with the terrible departure angle with a dovetail and a bob on the Bronco body.

Wish me luck.

Edit: Got the ability to attach pics now.

I added an interior, white trash with cash AKA redneck with a paycheck driver and LED lights with some old school, warm, incandescent looking headlights.

I was going to post pictures but it would appear that we have to use a 3rd party host here and I don't have one since PB changed their rules.

Welcome to the addiction brother! A good way to post pictures is with the Tapatalk app. Allot of us use that here. Let's see some pics of what you have going on. We enjoy helping

Thanks for the welcome -- I sorted it out on the original post.

That thing looks pretty cool like that. Reminds me of an old mud truck I had in my late teens. If you want some more grip from those canyon trail tires cutting the small lugs out makes a big difference. I cut the small lugs and cut a section out of the big outer lug. Installed some good dual stage foams and beadlocks. Now I like them more then my Hyrax. You can see pics of them in my dingo thread and in the cut tires only thread in the wheels and tires section. Good luck! Look forward to seeing where you go with it!

Finished painting the Comanche body for the rexy last night. Calling this one the Mustard Tiger (Trailer Park Boys homage, R.I.P. Philadelphia Collins)

Tamiya mustard yellow, tamiya white, rustoleoum bedliner as backer, bed, and fenders.

Next up is an interior of some sort, thinking either dinky or PL classic.

No longer on stock wheels and tires. Also bought links to go to the 12.8wb. Raised the body 8mm. No rubbing rear. A bit of rubbing at full flex in the front.

Got a little more done on the bob/dove. Corners are just held together with the trim for now. Ran out of time.

The Mustard Tiger looks great Danza! I see you got a little more aggressive with trimming out the wheel arches. TBH - I still may need to take away some more material on mine. Have not really had a chance to shake her down with the weather here.

Thanks Walsh!

I did have to do quite a bit of trimming for those huge hyrax tires to clear when flexing and turning. Raised the front end a couple of body post holes as well. I’m going to put a smaller tire on the truck, trying out the Vanquish VXT tires this weekend, maybe cut canyon trails next weekend. If neither of those work out I’ll likely end up with some rock beasts or berserkers.

The PB RockBeasts sat really well under mine. If I were to strictly run those, I don't think I'd have to do any additional trimming of the wheel arches. I definitely wanna give the Canyon Trails a go though. Have not syped or cut them at this point, but did vent them with 4 holes equally spaced around the tire. Also slipped in CI Foams. Comp Cut Inners with Soft outers up front, Medium outers in back. I'll be curious to see how they do.

Metal bumpers arrived today. Got them mounted up and the included LED running lights installed on them. I think it's safe to say I'll have enough light for night trailing/crawling at this point!:lmao:
