What are you working on??

Hmmm....

Sent from my Jitterbug

I took advantage of rpp hobbies Black Friday deals today and picked up a bunch of goodies. Got a cold body on the way for my next build. I'll be hacking on that over the winter.

I'm working on finishing up my lights. Got some rock lights on. Just need one more strip up front of the red rock lights and it'll be done. Plenty bright for sure but the red is nice not blinding like I think white would be. Going to work I the dark and coming home in the dark sucks so at least I can get out and play if I get a minute after work.

So, the wife asked what I want for Christmas,
I told her I wanted three 10-packs of the RC4WD 8-32 alloy rod ends.
Aluminum 8-32 Rod End with Steel Ball (10)

Then she asked what else I wanted and I said a new lid.
But what I'm having trouble with is deciding which lid I want her to buy me....

Axial has a couple that are in the running:
The Nukizer and the Mighty FC lids.

Then there's the Pro-Line Commanche lid:

Parma makes their "Honcho" lid, which looks like a Jeep J-10 pickup:

And last, but definitely not least, the Tamiya Unimog 406:

The Commanche is definitely in 5th place.
The Unimog would be 4th. Maybe.
The Mighty FC, the Nukizer, and the Parma Honcho are in a 3 way tie.

I was thinking that with the Honcho, Commanche, or Unimog lid I would paint it brown on the inside and then another color on the outside so when the outside paint gets scratched it shows brown "rust" underneath it.
Plus the outer layer would be dull, like an old faded/oxidizing paint job.

The FC or Nukizer would just be a color painted the regular way. LOL

I'm leaning toward the Honcho at the moment.
Heat it up in a few places and put some dents in the softened lexan, then painted inside and out, and detailed up!

But that could change....:lmao:

EDIT:
The Honcho body only has a 10" wheelbase.... Too short, unfortunately.

I like the nukizer, I think it would look awesome with a weathered paint job and some scale goods on it!

Here's the chassis complete for my 2 door jeep project. Everything is wired up and working. The two extra wire harnesses are for the light module I mount on the body. It's the same one I've got in my blazer. Hopefully this thing performs ok. Kinda wung the suspension links and geometry but everything flexes and twists with no bind so I'm crossing my fingers. It's a little slow with the 55t motor on 2s but I may change the pinion on it.

I've got the body rough trimmed, just making marks where my body mount holes are going to go. I've got to add spacers to the rear mounts as they are not tall enough. I was going got try and use the lexan bumpers that came with the body but it's too much work for something I think will rip right off so I'm either going to just make a simple front and rear bumper or look for a good deal on some used scx bumpers. I've got way more than I wanted in this this. I should have just bought another ascender and swapped bodies and had a spare for mine but live and learn.
Battery isn't really where I'd like it to be but it just ended up there lol. With the shorty lipo it's not that heavy so hopefully it won't matter too much. The front wheels are weighted so maybe it'll help with going down hill?

I just put CI's in my worn Baja claws. Definitely woke them up . No more flat a$$ tires. Ive got a set coming for the pitbulls. Cant wait to see how much of a difference it makes on the Ford. Stiff foams seem to make the suspension work harder. Smaller foot print. Those were the only things I was worried about. Never run closed cell foams before. Now I have 4 sets to buy lol
Bummer that. I've got to fix those stiff foams.
Deciding if I want to sell them, or star cut brand new foams.

Ordered the gelande 2 d90, saved 15% thank you cyber monday. I'm thinking this color scheme

The clod body came today! Can't wait to get going on this one! Also picked up a scale chain for the no touch run, not sure how strong it is but we're going to find out.
