Wow these are only $13 and $20. IS101 is a 43T though. Typo?

Some websites say the ring is a 42 and others say a 43? but I guess Kyosho site should be right

Ofna Ultra LX Comp CVD's

I was messing around tonight and I decided to take the front CVD's out of my old Ultra Comp LX 330 mm track width. They are almost exactly the same lenght as a Twin Force short side-- we're talking within .010". I slid the Ofna axle into a twin axle and the screw holes are lined up. There is probably a .005 to .010" gap between the inner and outer axle housings. The stub shaft is slightly longer, so you will need to run a washer between the bearing and the hex, but it is an 8mm stub.

The axle measurements are as follows:
from center of dog bone pin to the CVD pin is 86 mm
from the dog bone pin to the hex pin is 111.5 mm
from the dog bone pin to the end of the stub is 123.5 mm

I only have the CVD's, but I know Ofna made Universal shafts for this buggy too, so I assume they will fit as well. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the MBX, Ravager and 9.5 use the same parts too. I will see if I can track down some part numbers.
After some searching, I think the 9.5 and new Ultra have the narrower track like STJ7780 said, so the universals will not fit like the CVDs do.

#34022 is Stock Ultra Comp "CVA,FRT/RR 330mm" I think this is a typo, it should read 130mm. If this is so they would be 1mm shorter than the Kyosho IFW142

#34023 and #34024 are the rebuild parts for #34022.

OFNA has released the new Jammin gear set #40626 for the X1-CR buggy and CRT truggy. As an added bonus, this gear set fits both Kyosho 777 and Hyper 8 products.

The gear set is made of a special material that greatly reduces tooth wear plus adding too life and realiability. Special attention has been paid to the tooth shape and gear mesh too reduce friction.
 
If you have the ultra comp version 1 then the track width is 330 mm. It is not a typo. The new ofna ultra comp version two is 310 mm track width to meet roar racing rules. They make a universal for the ultra comp but it is for the 310 mm car. If you have a set of cvd's and they are about 127 mm in length then they are for the comp 1. I am currently trying to source parts for my comp 1 so if you have any questions just email me.
 
Oh, so that's total track width. My bad. We were just interested in actual shaft lengths. Either over all lengths, or pin centerline to pin centerline. Dog bone pin to CVD pin. Thanks for the clarification.
 
Here is a list of some different length dog bones that can be used in the mad/twin axles with just a little modification.

The picture below shows 4 different dog bones, the replacement ones are available through tower hobbies. I am including the pin to pin measurement and the minor diameter of each shaft.

#1: Duratrax DTXC7468 pin to pin = 1.236” minor dia. = 0.215”

#2: Duratrax DTXC7466 pin to pin = 2.13” minor dia. = 0.174” (necks up in center to 0.195”)

#3: Duratrax U joint shaft pin to pin = 3.15” minor dia. = 0.195” (the stub shaft is 0.234”)
(this one is discontinued but you can get similar ones via these part numbers DTXC7471 or DTXC7473

#4: Kyosho Twin Force Short Bone pin to pin = 3.346” minor dia. = 0.191”

There are a couple other things to note about the Duratrax bones that need attention.
First is that the ball part of the dog bone will need to be ground down some to allow it to freely move in the cup. No big deal.
The second problem is that the pins on the dog bones are different sizes on the Duratrax vs. the Kyosho bones. The Kyosho pins are 0.548” long and 0.114” in diameter. The Duratrax pins are 0.461” long and 0.117” in diameter. The length difference means the pins aren’t using the entire cup to distribute the load. This may or may not be a problem. I was planning on just putting the pins from the twin bones into the Duratrax bones but I don’t know if that will work due to the diameter difference.

Got the old digi calipers out and measured the Ultra LX Comp axles. I will the measurements in with my original post.
 
More Ofna Axles

I was messing around as usual, and I found that the universals from an Ofna Hyper 7 PBS are about 1-2mm longer than a stock short side. They are probably just a strong and flexible as the Kyosho universals, but you could run them by just elongating the screw holes in the axle a bit instead of cutting the tubes.

I have a PCR Hyper 7 too so I will measure those to see if they are any different. I will track down the part numbers and get the exact measurements when I get home.

I believe the correct part # is 87348

Anyone know of a nice strong 3.3/1 ring and pinion for the TF? Using the V2 tranny and the 4.3/1 helical's I've got a FDR of around 130:1!!! I could use a bit more speed and am not worried about the loss of torque from the twin Cobalts.
