Turtle's Modified XV-01

Just noticed. The two holes furthest to the front, are there any screws there?

Edit :- Never mind I had the bracket around the wrong way, screws are now in place

Yes. It should be listed in the instructions when you get to that step. They mount to the cross brace that is in front of the motor.

Not much to update. Car did well in the 4th race of the 2014 CRC series. Sounds like I have a few crunchy bearings, but that is to be expected with how I treat this car. :ror:

A couple shots before and during the race.

Oh I also have a Ford Fiesta 2012 body in transit. Can't wait for the big move to Ford.

Where are you getting the Ford Fiesta body from? I've been looking for one of those! Nice pictures by the way!

The Czech Republic. A lot of the guys in our local series are picking them up from a couple of guys who make them for love of the hobby. Check out our thread in the Colorado section titled "Monkey Racing body order".

Thanks for the very informative thread sir.

I'll be picking up the new TRD 86 XV-01 as soon as it's available.

I don't know if you guys already know this, but Tamiya has announced an XV01 long damper kit edition at the nuremburg toy fair. For pics, check out tamiyablog(.)com. The main advantage I see on this new release is the ability to install buggy springs for more tuning options into the car.

I wonder where they got that idea? Cough, cough. :ror:

I can't really tell, is it a full vehicle kit or are those parts just becoming available as parts?

From reading the print here it looks like they are releasing it as a kit, as it mentions 16 spoke wheels and tires. I'm sure everything can be had separately too though.

Well my son decided to come early so I missed the CRC race on sunday, but I managed to get away and drive the track for 5 minutes before a solder joint broke on my deans plug. Today I decided to shorten the wires and resolder both wires.

Then I noticed something, the area the wires came out had a lip that could potentially hold a closure of some type. It gave me an idea to make this.

Which slid into the slot and held the wires in place.

Not the best mod I have done, but seems to serve a purpose.

Then I started looking at the underside and am thinking it's time for a new chassis protector setup.

A big ole' box showed up yesterday. And I had to do a little mock up with the 2012 Ford Fiesta.

I pulled the front bumper off just to mock the body up, it needs a little trimming in the corners of the foam, but thats it.
