Tedrockzs 2013 Special Agent Berg build

With a set of calibers, a $15 harbor freight vise and a hand drill I did a set last night. Measure 6 times, Drill once and take your time. I started with a 1/16 drill bit for the pre hole and worked my way up. A good tap is a must. A drill press is for sure ideal though!

Harvo was referring to drilling the inner diameter of the tube to fit the Dlux modded inners. It lacked +/- 1/2 a mm to work"thumbsup"

The link mounts are/were easy.

Got my Al hardware in today. Got it all changed out. Come up to about a 3/4oz weight loss.
Had one of my contractors stop by and left me some "help"8)

This truck and build is typical TedRocks. Going to be one stunner, hope to see you back out on the rocks.

I've been wanting to Wrait/XR the front of mine but lacking 300HD's. Maybe I'll go the Dlux modded route.

Learned a lot so far on your build, good luck.

I'll have the Dlux pieces here Tuesday(possibly tomorrow). Erik has been a big help on this build via several Pms. This, by what he says, is the 4th set of them. Harvo has had no problems so far. This is a great option I think until John gets the 300 stuff in order. He is trying hard I'm sure to get them made and perfected.
There is never anything wrong with a second option, which Erik has provided. Hopefully by end of next week I'll have this running and get to go up to LRC and get some run time in. I'll have a lot more time this summer to get out and crawl and make some comps.

I got my set yesterday. They are beefy and since they are based off 1/8th scale buggy ones, I doubt they will fail. 1/8th scale buggy stuff gets exposed to huge horsepower in extreme conditions for in long runs...I am sure they will be fine!

Later EddieO

Looking forward to your review. And nothing against John, just want an option to get me there. Dlux has always been good at quality and options my truck has many of his parts. And my original 300's (Berg/Berg) are still fine and have only been rebuilt once since 2009 Nationals...

Knowing this, you are right. I was unaware they were built on 1/8th scale components. I used to race those cars and never broke a Universal or even worn one out really.

He is actually getting a different style of shaft. He is using the 8* knuckle I told you that I dont like (:flipoff:) so, I am using a modded Wraith shaft. There isnt too much difference as far as dimensions go on the shafts so I am guessing they will be fine. I am using the same idea in my super and if you go watch vids that I just put in there, you can see I am not afraid to put that car into a bind and pull the throttle.

If you have not worn a 300 out in 4 years, you will be more than good. I dont know anybody that really has worn out an XR shaft and thats what these are based off of. The 1/8 buggy stuff is a bit better on the quality control and fitment but I still have not worn one out and I wore out my 300 CVD's about every 1.5 months. I dont flaw the shaft, I just drove a lot on them.

I hope you get these today and and get that car rollling. DONT be nice to the shafts!

Erik put these in the mail Saturday and I got them in today. Pretty uneventful install. The only thing with the RcBro tubes is you have to back out the link mount and servo mount screws @ 1 turn in order for the tang area to pass by. Not a big deal.

Milled out RcBro locker to make way for the larger tang. Dlux is including these in the set up. He was waiting on some to arrive so I sent him a spare I had to shorten my wait:ror:

Everything is smooth and bind free. Now to fashion up some steering linkage...

Missed ya last weekend.

Alright I'm over it.

Good stuff Steve! "thumbsup"

Put some WD-40 on the universals before you use them "thumbsup"
Did, bolted a motor to the axle and run them straight off a 2 cell for a bit. Gears needed run in too! Had a tight spot in them(gears), was gone in about two minutes. Shafts are smooth"thumbsup"

You didn't have to mod the tube? No drilling out needed?

I used a 9/32" drill bit. If you do it with a hand drill it is grabby as hell and easy to off center. I built a makeshift fixture on my drill press. Shoulda took a pic. Was kinda neat:ror:
