Thats a DRX body?

Add me to the list of people who have made the purchase. Demon on the way from California. Very excited. Thanks for this excellent thread mister.

I'd love to see more pics of this track. Where is it located? Just found the DRX VE and this thread had been a great source of information.

This thing is AWESOME!!! after seeing others run a 3C I decided to try it out. Holy Crap  so much for the tread on my tires. I had a blast out on the street sliding around like I had drift tires. Then over to the track for some soft dirt, even with the stock set-up is slides around pretty good. again I love how this thing handles. I cant get it to roll over no matter how hard I take the corners. a little to much speed with the 3C so I'm going to gear down a little and see if i cant get a little more torque out of it.

I got on the gas a little to much after the hairpin and slid sideways off the jump right into a tree and the DRX took it like a champ. thank goodness for the big bumper.

The diff gears, sway bars and the pinion gears showed up yesterday, need to make time to get them installed.

After racing around the track for about an hour the track is breaking in in very nicely. the power of the DRX has cut a few new levels into the dirt. clearing the soft dirt out in some areas and loosening it up in other areas. this track is a little small for two to race on it, but then again it might be good, after all Rubbing is Racing!!!

There are more photos in this thread of that track. We will be having our first event of our Colorado Rally Championship October 27th at this track so there will be more photos then.

No more photos of that track, but there are some other pretty cool tracks in this thread.

Has anyone tried any other type of side guard that fits the drx and also do I need to mod the side guards at all to fit the drx?
Quick edit and info for everyone else: apparently kyosho have changed the mp9 side guards parts number to IF474!

I had to hack into the guards slighty and drill new holes in the side of the chassis for them to mount up.

Is everyone having to trim and cut up these side guards? I've ordered KYOIF449 & KYOIF474B. Neither of them fit.

Ty did you use pins for extra gears you droped in the diff's?

I didn't trim the sides or bottoms of my guards, but I did trim the back so it wrapped around the toe blocks. Take a picture and show us where you are having trouble.

Yes I used the pins for the extra gears. I thought they came with the gears, but maybe I ordered them separate... Its hard to remember.

I'll post some pic's tonight. Thanks for the help.

I cut part of the rear corners off of the chassis plate lip, it allowed the IF449 guards to seat:

In order to give clearance for the rear diff assembly, a little pie-cut and heat bend will free up the guards to fold in. I'll get a pic of that up tonight.

Yep you just trim the back there a little bit. The guards were not made for the car, so you have to do a little modifying, but these do a a lot to keep dirt out.

Here are the pic's

This is the second set I ordered but, as you see from jakel's post part #KYOIF449 doesn't mate flush either.

It's not a direct fit, as other's have mentioned. But darn close.

I just sat mine on the car so the front of the guards were flush with the curve of the chassis. I cut mine where jakel made a hinge cut for his on the rear. After that, I just marked the chassis for 3 mount screws and a little grinding/test fitting they were on. I did have to drill/tap the chassis on the driverside rear to work with the stock battery mount.

Couple more pictures for reference. Used a stock MP9 body and two strips of velcro to hold it on. Although I did make little shelfs for the MP9 body to fit on. Drilled and tapped the shelfs but dont need em.

Ok, I cut'em. I just didn't want to cut them up before finding out if there was a pair that fit perfect. Thanks guys. "thumbsup"

On the back corner (underside) of the guards, I took my dremel to them to try and make the guards sit more flush with the main chassis/bend area. Just don't dremel too much. You'll see. Post up in my DRX thread if you need more pictures and I can do it tonight.

Sorry for the thread HiJack, Turtle. :ror:
