Team [HOONIGAN]'s DRX(s)

on a side note, i found these searchin for drx tires. i see they are for a drt but they also list as drx i think? sites kinda confusing and dosent show size stats. any idea if they would work? they look kinda coo
KYOTRT111 Kyosho DRT Tire - Package of 2

Actually, if you enlarge that photo of the tires you can see "100/63/38" (in millimeters). With Turtle's measurements (2.5" wheels, 3.65" tires), that equals 63.5mm wheels and 92.71mm tires. The 38mm is width which is close to 1.5". So they're pretty close to the DRX tires, just a little taller.

whoa this thing is a beast. at first i was all sad thinkin the stock motor was WAY too slow, then i realized they set the throttle epa to 50% at the factory"thumbsup" sliding around on the pavement is awesome, but i cant wait to hit the dirt. p.s. my size reference picture, the jeep jk body is shortened by 1inch.

@ Turtle,

I see you have the aluminum steering set on your drx, is it worth getting or is it more for the "bling" factor?

Glad they fit, but to me they look too big for the body.

All about the bling. :ror:

The way the steering is setup I can't see issues with the stock steering setup. Hell I still have plastic knuckles in all four corners, if I am not breaking knuckles I doubt I would be breaking plastic steering linkage. More so I have it because it is a little more rigid then the plastic, or that is what I tell myself.:lmao:

Can anyone provide a comparison between the Kyosho DRX VE, HPI WR8 electric and the Thunder Tiger ER-4? Is one of the cars clearly better than the others? Thanks.

I have never owned anything Thunder Tiger except planes, but I have comparisons shots between the DRX and WR8.

And the DRX next to a standard 190mm rally car

Personally I am an advocate for the DRX as the coolest/funniest RC I have ever driven/owned. Between you and me I driven lots and lots of RCs. :ror:

You found us alright then!

There's a few blokes in Australia who love the Thundertiger, but haven't driven anything else (and I think the main advocate was a store owner, so had Thunder Tiger everything. A bit of biasm there perhaps). It will be a struggle to find a 3 way comparision I reckon - unless Turtle goes and buys a Thnder Tiger to compare for us. I hear they're pretty good Turtle ;-)

I'll PM you my address to send one out to me. :ror:

OK reading this post makes me want to pickup a DRX. Can this be run in snow? I have a Kyosho Blizzard I use for winter fun but this rally class looks amazing.

Whats the ultimate upgrade to get to get this kit started right?
Im also waiting for the RC Legends truck that is suppose to come out.

OK this is all clicking on me now. I still have the original Kyosho GP20 Esprit onroad nitro and I remember when I was buying that Kyosho also had the Landmax Super 8 in rally form. Basically similar chassis as my onroad but comes with rally tires

Onroad --> Kyosho 1/8 GP-20 ESPRIT 4WD and MERCEDES-BENZ body set | eBay
Landmax offroad --> Kyosho 1/8 Super Eight GS21R GP 4wd Landmax Toyota Corolla WRC | eBay

Could this be a revival of it just in electric version? Kyosho seems to make good quality parts (suspension arms and such)

Hey Ty, did you say the DRX uses a 6mm axle shaft? The shaft almost seems too small for 6mm. Is the wheel nut a M5 or M6? I lost a nut today while hooning and need a quick replacement

Natskiboy- I don't see why it couldn't run in snow. I ran mine in snow, mud, rain and ice and it did find, I do have a little rust build up from not cleaning it after running it water. :ror: If you are running it in snow I would go for a full underbody, in the colder conditions keeping the rig cool is really easy. Plus it will make clean up much much easier.

I think the nut is a 5mm, pretty sure the shaft is 6mm though... I think...:ror:
