Team [HOONIGAN]'s DRX(s)

No worries guys.

If you look close in this photo you can see I just trimmed it so the guard sits on top of the toe block.

Its not a submarine it doesn't have to be water tight. "thumbsup"

As RCC's officially appointed Rally Guru I must ask another question. Do you or anyone else reading know where I find a bigger motor plate? My MMM showed up last night and, I'm yet again faced with one more obstacle. The Kyosho motor plate is to small for this thing. I've looked at some buggy forums and tried BING'n it but, have came up short.

I saw a DRX in person @ a hobby shop up in NYC over the weekend. They took it out the box and everything. It was soooo tempting to swipe the plastic. Dam that thing is nice.

Damn thats going to be a lot of power! Not sure on a bigger motor plate... Keep in mind you could be throwing off the weight balance by using too big of a motor. These cars only weight 5 pounds, despite the large size they are not very heavy.

Sorry I couldn't help.

You could always try making one out of angle iron, should work fine, but I would also brace the back of the motor can.

It actually weights less then my batt.

Mamba Monster/Neu-Castle 2200kv Motor Combo 424g

Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 65~130C Lipo Pack 442g (including wire, plug & case)

I will definitively need to turn it down. I mean if I'm breaking stuff with the stock motor, I'll just destroy it now...

I'll have to do some more hunting for a motor plate. With all the Inferno brushless conversions there's got to be something. Thanks anyway.

EDIT

Alw Shucks!

look what I just found: http://www.amainhobbies.com/product...42mm-Aluminum-Motor-Mount-Castle-Tekin-Motors

If you're going to use Crt.5 You'll be all set (since You apparently can fabricate chassis plates). I just bought Evo VII body and set of tires for one of my SCRT-10's and everything fits like a glove.

Did this make a big improvement over the stock steering set up?

The optional chassis for this DRX thread is the one that comes with the DRX VE. All of the DRXs in this thread were modified nitros with different chassis. "thumbsup"

Great pics as always.

I'm going to have to get out with mine soon, it's been too long.

Get going! A track can be anywhere or anything. This track was built using things found around the area on a abandoned strip of road with a whole lot of chalk.

Fourth photo from the bottom.....did you save it or did it roll??

Oh know it was saved, Im always surprised at how stable this car is. Generally the only time this car sees a rollover is hitting something tall enough to hit the rim.

We had a race yesterday and the DRX did great, but it was filthy. Last night it started snowing, so it was time to take the DRX out for a car wash. :ror:

My favorite conditions with this car.

I'm sorry if I missed it in this thread but have you ever tried to a Chassis Swap from the Nitro Chassis(Blue) to the Brushless(Gunmetal)? I'm never was a fan of the holes on the Blue chassis.
