Team [HOONIGAN]'s DRX(s)

This thing is a blast! I tested my 3S lipos today and it was great. When I stepped outside there was some light rain but that made driving even more fun. I only did a few full throttle runs, because it broke loose on the wet surface, but I tried to give it a hard run. It was mainly drifting...a lot of drifting haha

The Orion electronics seem fine. They were only warm to the touch after about 15 minutes of driving. The fan on the ESC keeps it cool as do the fins on the motor. The stock servo seems okay so far. I'm keeping it until it breaks. The ESC does seem to lag sometimes when switching from throttle to brake and reverse, but nothing horrible. I upgraded all three diffs to 4 spider gears and 5000wt oil to handle the 3S power. I really liked the look of the 1:1 Fiesta S2000 with black wheels so I painted mine to match. And finally, I threw in some Axial can-style light buckets with LEDs. This thread has been a lot of help. Thanks again Ty for being the guinea pig!

What? I have no idea what you are asking...

Hmm, so thats a problem ;-)

I was asking a few things about the Impreza (body) and the problem is that I don't know how the things are called in English, but Ill try it in another way:

1. I didn't see a real 1:1 Impreza so far, so I don't know where which light of it is.
2. In special I don't know if the real Impreza at all has front- and rear-foglights or just a backwards-driving-light at the place of the rear foglight.

I hope this is better understandable...

And theres another question popping up:
@the VE drivers: If you brake and the car stops, does it immediately drive backwards or do you have to go in the neutral position first and then backwards again?

This thing is AWESOME!!! after seeing others run a 3C I decided to try it out. Holy Crap  so much for the tread on my tires. I had a blast out on the street sliding around like I had drift tires. Then over to the track for some soft dirt, even with the stock set-up is slides around pretty good. again I love how this thing handles. I cant get it to roll over no matter how hard I take the corners. a little to much speed with the 3C so I'm going to gear down a little and see if i cant get a little more torque out of it.

I got on the gas a little to much after the hairpin and slid sideways off the jump right into a tree and the DRX took it like a champ. thank goodness for the big bumper.

The diff gears, sway bars and the pinion gears showed up yesterday, need to make time to get them installed.

After racing around the track for about an hour the track is breaking in in very nicely. the power of the DRX has cut a few new levels into the dirt. clearing the soft dirt out in some areas and loosening it up in other areas. this track is a little small for two to race on it, but then again it might be good, after all Rubbing is Racing!!!

Will do, its just easier to move wood ramps around than shoveling dirt. I blame the summer heat

Ok back to your question:
1.) Real Impreza
This is a 2007 but the 2008 lights are pretty much the same

Tail light

2.) No rear fog lights but they do have front fog lights in some cases.

Hope this helps!

That excuse it about at an end with the shorter and cooler days coming! :ror:

That helped just partly:

The big problem is that I don't know which lamp in the "light buckets" is for which light (high beam, low beam, ...)

But thank you, the pics are helpful though.

Got ya.
In the photo of the white Subaru Impreza the center light (the round one) is the low beam, the inside light is the high beam... Im pretty sure. I think that is where it was on my WRX.

Ok thank you, thats what I was asking for

But do you know where the sidelights(parkinglights) are?

EDIT: and the turn signals?

Google is your friend. Here's a video from Youtube showing the lights. The front amber lights on the outsides are the parking and turning signals. Just look up some more videos for reference. "thumbsup"

Also depends on which country you're in. Here in Australia, the side orange lights are turn signals only. They don't stay on while driving. Australian cars have a seperate clear/white light in the man beam as the 'parking/driving' lights, which are them smothered and not visible with the main beams on.

Ok thank you guys!

I was searching for hours and didn't find any infos. :x
So now my Impreza will get really scale! 8)

Does the DRX Impreza have rear lightbuckets, too? Or will I have to build them by myself?

And how do you think the lights are set at the WRC 2008? Australian or American or sth. else?

Lars from Norway found some HPI wheels and Pro-Line tires that will work.

That is what the stock DRX tires and wheels are. So if you want similar proportions to the DRX keep those sizes in mind. You might have a hard time finding 2.5" wheels (that also match the hex size).

WR8 wheels are no where close to the right size!

You can get whatever you want int the end, but smaller or larger tires then the dimensions I linked will look a little funny in the wheel wells.

Also keep in mind that stock tires are only 12.00 a pair and stock wheels are only 6.00 a pair, much cheaper then 90% of the other companies out there.

To prolong wear on the tires different foams and camber adjustments can be used as well. In the dirt it is not super critical but on tarmac the tires can wear pretty quickly if you are a throttle jocky.
