So I pulled the rear apart to check on things and after maybe 14 full batteries this is my drive shaft ;-)

3 bearing mod did it's job because the gears are fine and only the outer bearing exploded.

I now have a shroud installed and after another 5 or 6 batteries it's basically perfectly clean.

Hi all,

Just an update on the shaft cover I made.
So far it's been bloody amazing!

I went for a long bash session today on damp dirt and after inspecting underneath the bearing is completely clean..

I know it's hard to tell in the photo but it is..

You can see how caked up the axle is so I'm really happy!!

So a little 6 monthish update.. loving my XL so far and use it every second day.
I just did the BHB mod on the rear and its so much smoother/quieter then just the 3 bearings.

Had a bunch of 6s runs now since doing it and the teeth still look as good as new.

I did notice the transmission got warm for the first time though... guess that's the next part to go.. aluminium? I pulled it apart and everything looks new in there so I re greased it and threw it back together.

Stock slipper also got hot.. guess the RR one would be a good upgrade.

I did the rr slipper right off the bat. You know about the support part it comes with? The back support part the slipper comes with is too tall for the xl. I read most people drill out the trans case so it sits against the bearing inside. Instead, I milled down the support part so it was shorter and doesn’t rub on anything. That’s the problem. If you don’t do either it will rub on the case and melt it. Also, nice driveshaft bearing cover. I need to do that one still.

Just to revive a dead forum... Is there any good front shock setups that help with the zero rebound I'm getting?

I have rebuilt the front shocks but I just don't seem to get the plush rebound that was there when it was new.

Like I can push the nose down and it just stays down.
