SCX10 II by newIIrocks

Maybe something to consider: if you make a version for the OG scx, it could include a panhard mount. And maybe some more clearance on it for the servohorn than on the scx12. Then it could be a good option for cms OG scx conversions.

Thanks for the suggestion. Nick and I have already talked about a new chassis side panhard bracket and have it on the list after we do the servo winch relocation. Since the front half of the II chassis is identical to the OG, the II battery tray we've made and the new panhard mount should bolt right up to an OG with no mods needed. "thumbsup"
 
WHat is kind/brand the velcro on the body posts ? That stuff looks aggressive!


Sorry I missed this earlier. It's Velcro Industrial Strength Extreme, purchased from Amazon. It does look quite aggressive, but because of the spacing of the hooks, I think it needs a bit more surface area to work well. If I stay with Velcro up front, I'll probably add a bar with another strip of Velcro between the posts.

Yup, battery and servo mounts, as well as battery mount to work with SCX10 II stock servo mount. Haven't fully tested the integrated battery/servo mount in the OG chassis, but it should fit pretty nice upon initial investigation.

So, the trays are the first priority. Then the SCX10 II servo winch mounts (which need to be strong enough and have proper line routing to support strong winches). After that we have the panhard mount and some parts for the NC60. Those will be discussed in separate threads though since they are OG SCX10 related.

Nick and I are heading out to scout trails for the GCM Adventure Series USA event coming to NC in Oct. While I'm waiting on Shapeways to ship the (first) production battery tray, I decided to do the tranny flip with a prototype battery tray:

With 2mm spacers between the left side plate and the chassis rails, there's no need to trim the receiver box (yay!):

Plenty of room for a 5200 mAh 3s pack, though I won't need nearly that much today. She's ready for her outing:

I also added a cross bar between the front Velcro perches for more Velcro surface area up front. I'll post some pix later today. Now off to play... "thumbsup"

Slider spacing from rails is unchanged, so you can't tell at all after the body is back on. Now that we have that sorted, I have a bit of work to do to shore up the clipless body mounts. More updates to come...
 
Hey newII, did you ever extend your rear links? I saw you did the front and were thinking about doing the rear. About to do mine. You think just doing the rear uppers and lowers will do the trick? That few mm is killing me looking at it! Needs a little wider to match up perect with wheelwells. Thanks!
 
Sweet build, like how you did the spacers so that receiver box doesn't need trimmed, nice clean solution! :)

I need to try a set of these new Axial BFG AT too.

I only lengthened the uppers. After playing around with it, I thought the best look was aligning everything around the front bumper in the innermost position. In this position, the rear axle lines up nicely, leaving only the front links to adjust. "thumbsup"

What did you use to space the links? Found out the spacers from my ascender are only 3mm.

2mm spacers for the side tray/nerf bar assembly. "thumbsup"

Sorry, still talking about link spacers to extend wheelbase, not on the rails. Just used a couple nuts temporarily but know they'll get hung up.

I cut approx. 4-5mm (closer to 5) off of the ends of three of the extra rod ends and then threaded them into the links as spacers. Here's a pic showing the lower fronts compared to the lower rears so that you can see more clearly:

Since doing that, I've been on the lookout for pre-made M4 spacers and think I finally found some that will work. Once I have them in hand, I'll post up with details. "thumbsup"

Nice, could drill or file out Axial aluminum spacers, but some pre-made assorted lengths (1mm up to say 7mm) with a 4mm hole would be nice. "thumbsup"
