Rant Thread

I gotta quote this as it's semi relevant to my rant.

I don't see why people have to be so petty. You can still have no respect for someone but not hate them. Work is a great example. I work with a Blue Falcon who I have less than zero respect for and think is a complete tool but I do not hate them and will work with them at work. Same goes for political stuff. I don't hate biden, pelosi, shumer, etc but I have less than zero respect for them (and would mind if an airplane with them all crashed in the birmuda triangle). Same goes for the people that actively support their actions or can't think on their own and just vote party lines on both sides. No hate, just no respect. Not going to do anything negitive to them. I'll share a hobby, I'll work with them but it doesn't mean I have to agree with them.

So many people let stuff like that get in the way of everything, especially politics. For some reason people think that because you don't agree with their politics you are their enemy. Not true. You can get along just fine but it doesn't mean you have to like them. You might end up best buddies!

People my age seem to be pretty useless. My boss hinted about it being increasingly difficult to even get people to apply for a job. I've heard folks talking about how they rather just keep getting money from the gov then work. Some even say they make more leeching than working.

I'm just so tired of all this crap. People are allowing themselves to be divided. People are blindly following garbage being spewed without thinking. Keep it together people!

I'm tired of the psychological effects of things right now (still working on getting over loosing a friend in the worst way because of this), tired of the economic effects, tired of the physical effects and tired of the negitive social impacts. I just want to be able to go get groceries without threats (medically unable to wear any face covering) or being treated like a criminal.

Also tired of companies blaming their incompetence on such and such. No, Fedex, you were incompetent 5 years ago and nothing has changed except your prices have gone up.

I'm turning onto a very crochety old man and I've got easily another 50 years before I make it to that age!

I'm glad I have a good group of close friends.

I keep trying to tell the girlfriend I'm perfect and the definition of normal. She just tells me I'm normally the definition of what is not normal! Hahaha! She is a keeper!

Nobody is perfect (especially not me!). I figure as long as people make an effort to be a decent person I can't fault.

I'm gonna make Eastwood in Gran Turino looks pretty agreeable when Im in my 50s+.

My 18 year old step-daughter, whom knows everything, of course , announced to the wife and I that she is moving out. Now, I know she is an adult and I can't stop her, but I can tell she didn't put a lot of thought into this. She's moving in with a former co-worker she's known all of 6 months. They are getting an apartment in a less-than-stellar part of town. I asked her why this person and her current roommate are moving out of their existing apartment (which is in a decent neighborhood) and she replied that "they can't stay there anymore..." Which I told her sounds like an eviction and should be a HUGE red flag. However, she seems oblivious to the concept that they could turn around and screw her, too. I have yet to find out if they have a lease or are tenant-at-will, if there is a lease, whose name(s) are actually on it, is she giving her portion of the rent to the landlord or her roommates (very bad), ect...

I knew from her early teens, this one was going to have to learn everything the hard way, but I wish she would get off the "you're just trying to keep me from living my life" BS long enough to realize we're trying to keep her from being financially vulnerable.

Ordered hardcore titanium links for my v3 build on Monday the 15th, my buddy ordered the same links 5-7 days later and his are in the mail. Mine still show processing

The major part is respiratory issues. I got awesome genes. I've had breathing problems for most of my life.

I'm not trying to call you out or anything, I understand if you're self concious or something you can just say so and I'll drop it. It's just my 65 year old Oma has COPD and she manages ok with a mask in public when its necessary, so I'm just wondering what actually constitutes a... for lack of a better word "severe" enough issue to mean you can't wear a mask. If its bad enough that you can't wear a mask I can only imagine how bad it would be to manage with Covid, sort of a catch 22 isn't it?

I'm honestly less than worried about the china flu. I am guaranteed to be affected by more breathing restrictions than SARS-COV2. In not 65 but my lungs are jacked. I get hypoxia in about 10 minutes of restricting breathing or a couple minutes of talking. Much longer and it takes days to recover from it. It's not fun. Don't be me.

Think of it like a week long asthma attack when triggered.

I'm sorry to hear that man, sounds like a real bitch to deal with. It begs the question though, how are you not worried about Covid than? Sounds like a death sentence for you if you catch it.

A few reasons.

If it's my time to go it's my time. I'm stubborn but I can't change when my time is up. I've done enough stupid stuff to have worn out my 9 lives!

Where I'm at we just passed maybe 4% infected when we were supposed to be the hardest hit in the nation.

The science being spouted now doesn't align at all with the science I learned long ago. We are being told a pasta strainer (random bandanna over the face) will stop a virus (~ a tenth of a um). It's not like it would help anyways.

I'm going to live my life and not cower in fear over anything including my jacked up lungs. If I want to do it I'll find a way to do so. I want to live my life and not just let time pass me by. My friends and family have gotten to that point too.

I'm pretty sure I already got the china flu winter of 2019. Had a nasty chest something for about 1.5 months that kept coming back.

I mean I can get behind the "if its my time its my time" mentality, but I'd worry more about being a vector to someone else, who's a vector to someone else and so on. Could be quite a body count. Especially considering you're understanding of the science is apparently deeply flawed, no offense. Anyway, stay safe man.

Flawed? How so? What makes basic understanding of airsols and it filtration flawed! Hope it isn't as I work with this stuff in a professional environment. Maybe my information is outdated from 2019? All I know is it's NOT politically motivated and sees through the BS.

Another rant: that "stay safe" bullshit. It's like telling someone "don't drown" while drowning or "don't freak out" when having a anxiety attack. You also have no idea what a person does for their physical and mental wellbeing. I can guarantee you the stuff I do to stay healthy would have been the subject of your ridicule a year ago before the politics and media got everyone all riled up. Last summer I was ridiculed for it during the fires but I got the last laugh with clean air, no dusk, smoke, etc with a major wild fire 2 miles out. A P100 barely catches most of that and that's large particulate. Cloth is useless. I wore a P100 respirator (way better than a cloth or shield garbage) and probably should have been hospitalized due to the stuff that got through. Was messed up for weeks.

Sorry but here we go again. Let the arguing of politics begin.
Why does everything lead to politics. Why couldn't it just stop with his breathing condition and his rights to believe what he believes. Especially when you asked about his issue. And now you tell him he has flawed vision.

Sometimes its just better to walk away. Like I will after you post your reply to this.

I was genuinely curious and asked politely. I don't have to pretend the answer I got isn't bullshit in order to sincerely wish you well, and I do sincerely wish you well. You can infer that as some kind of political cross chatter if you want to, but thats a lot of effort to get offended about some shit if you ask me. Seems like maybe you were just looking for something to be offended about.

Why does everything lead to politics.

So, this goes to the "follow the science" argument, and the reason why it always goes political is because people only want to follow the science when it supports their argument. If the science does not support their argument, then they claim the science is invalid, which is normally do to someone's political ilk.

Honestly, the "follow the science" argument pisses me off. I whole-heartedly believe in following the science, but if you follow the science on one topic, you should follow it for all topics, and not pick and choose which science to follow. Science, ergo, facts, just like statistics, are warped, skewed, manipulated and omitted to support a point of view, instead of simply support their pure conclusions.

I was at Home Depot this weekend with my dog...

Up here is it is common it see dogs in HD, the employees for some time actually carried dog treats on them, but were told to stop. Anyhoo, having a very large (135lbs), and rarer bread dog, I normally get stopped a number of times asking about her and the breed. Abby is an Anatolian Shepard Dog, and just like Dargo, our last Anatolian, she is a very good ambassador for the breed. She is a little shier that Dargo, but still friendly, and just like Dargo, loves kids.

So, I am there in the paint isle, looking at buckets and lids, just got a new pellet grill/smoker, and want buckets to store the different flavors of pellets in. This woman walks up and asks if she can pet Abby, which is always appreciated, and of course, I say yes. While she is petting Abby she asked about what kind of dog she is. I tell her the breed, and she askes what Abby is mixed with. I tell her that Abby is a purebred, and not mixed with anything. Abby is a perfect example if a typical Anatolian, so if you know dogs, there is no question. The woman says, "ok, sure, but what is she mixed with?" Again, I inform the woman that she is a purebred Anatolian. She asks if Abby is mixed with a Pitbull, Abby has not a single feature of a Pitt. Then asks if she is part German Shepard, again I say not, she is purebred. After about ten guesses of what other dog breed she might be mixed with, my amusement of the situation is starting to wain, and I repeat that she is a purebred Anatolian. Then she asks, "What is an 'Anatolian'?" That is when Abby and I walked away with the buckets...

^^^ That's exasperating...

Was Dargo named after the FarScape character?
