Selling stuff is a pain. I had a 1.9 Wraith listed locally for pretty cheap. Guy offered to buy it but wanted me to drive all the way across town during rush hour to meet him. That would cost me at least $20 in fuel and close to 2 hours of time so I said no thanks. He then asked me if I'd take about $30 less if he could have someone come pick it up. I said that sounds great. Next day he messages me again, asking me to drive across town to a different location and deliver it to him at work for the newly agreed to price. I politely declined and told him I dropped the price because he said he would have it picked up. He proceeded to cuss me out and call me a liar and a welch.

People just annoy me with the "can you bring it to me" crap. Unless it is large and expensive, the answer is NO. I'm not going to waste an hour of my day and $10 in fuel to sell a $5 stroller. Thats stupid.

That’s the other thing that drives me crazy, I’ve not once asked anyone to deliver something to me. If I want to make a deal I make it happen. I might ask if they can split the difference on a trade deal but yea. People have no shame apparently

I don’t fly much because my kids are just getting to the age where it isn’t a huge logistical pain in the ass to go on vacation. After a very pleasant week in Montana, we got a departing flight from Bozeman to Chicago that was nearly 2 hours delayed and missed our connecting flight to Raleigh by 15 minutes. American rebooked us on the next available flight which of course had to be a 5:00 am flight the next morning with an extra stop in Dallas. American gets us a hotel room 20 minutes from the airport despite there being about 30 hotels closer. We get to the airport at 3:30 in the morning and it’s already a huge line. We made it through security about 15 minutes before boarding, if you got there any later or chose a different security checkpoint then you definitely missed a 5:00 flight. The flights from Chicago to Dallas and from Dallas to Raleigh were uneventful which is about the best thing I can say. When we got to Raleigh, we learned American never updated the flight information on our bags so apparently they never left Chicago despite the insistence of the ticket agent saying their destination would updated with our tickets. I’m ready to not go anywhere for a long time now.

Man svt, that’s a mess… flying lately has been a huge nightmare for a lot of people. I recently flew to Denver for work and southwest was cancelling flights like crazy. I was supposed to fly home Friday night at 6:45, Alaska airlines, flights gets bumped to 7:45. Lyft took 1.5 hours to get me to the airport phones dead. Get to the counter flights been delayed til 10 planes on a mechanical and I had to work the next day. Got home at 1:30am. Gave us a $12 food voucher for the “inconvenience”
Anyways glad you made it home safe

My steps...

So, yesterday I hit my steps, I do most days. Yesterday's goal, 11,352. Today's goal.... 13,054.

Two things...
First, how about decreasing the next day's step's when you hit a goal, maybe by 1000 or so, as a reward for hitting today's steps.

Second, who programs a half-assed arbitrary algorithm that generates "13,054" as a goal?

My 19 year old learned the lesson of "you get what you pay for" when she booked a flight on Spirit Airlines. She had a flight that was supposed to leave Boston at 4 am. That flight got cancelled (common for Spirit) and eventually got her flight to Myrtle Beach 14 hours later.

Damn dishwasher crapped out. The thing is only 7 years old. I'm pretty sure I know what is wrong with it. I'm hoping the circulation pump is just clogged and I don't have to drop $150 on a whole new assembly.

Dishwasher issue figured out... The impeller on the circulation pump is stripped. However, I can't just buy the impeller, I have to buy the whole damn pump for $110.

This is load of crap...
Name one place in the US that is turning away job applicants, name one place that isn't grossly understaff in the retail/service industry, bet you cant.

This evening I was at Home Depot and could not find a lumber cart. I asked the guy at the "Pro Desk", and he said they were likely in the back of the parking lot, but they did not have the staff to go get them. Then he asked me if I wanted a job.

Enough is enough, stop paying people to sit on their asses and get them back to work.

Except that is not always the case. We have the same issue in NH, but have a healthy unemployment rate of 2.9% and the governor opted out of the enhanced unemployment a couple of months ago. A lot of people have left service sector jobs because they got tired of the shitty pay, being asked to do the work of three people and dealing with the rude-ass general public. My step-daughter lived this scenario.

OK, but left for where?
The hope here is that these service job workers took advantage of their time off and extra unemployment money, got training and certifications, and got gainful employment doing something they find more satisfying. Or, are they sitting on their asses and refusing to go back to work because they are getting paid not to?

Don't get me wrong here, my nightmare job is being a waiter, I think I'd rather get a job emptying septic tanks with a teaspoon. But, if push came to shove, and it was a choice between being on unemployment or being a waiter, I'd be a waiter. I would be very proactive in getting the skills to get a better job.

But, AOC is calling for more unemployment benefits when people can find jobs. And sure, some people are claiming it is unsafe with the WuFu-Delta raging. Its actually quite simple, get the vaccine, wear a mask, and go to work. Easy-peasy.

I know that we can't use profanity on this forum but y'all can use your imagination for the bleeped-out words.

**** people who drive with no license and no insurance. And an especially big "**** YOU!" to parents that permit their children to drive with no license and no insurance. And an extra large helping of "**** YOU!!" for having the audacity to ask me to fraudulently report an accident in order for you to not get in trouble! I don't care for most people on most days even when they're NOT actively trying to jerk me around! So hey... don't expect me to have ANY sympathy for you on a day that you run into my car and then beg me to lie about what happened. Jesus... just grow a pair, suck it up, and understand that I don't like paying my bills and insurance premiums every ****ing month but I DO... because that's just what you do as a functioning responsible adult! Ugh... I HATE this kind of shit!

Had something similar happen about 25+ years ago. Kid ran into the back of me at a red light on a Friday afternoon. We pulled over and he ended up taking off. He was drunk out of his mind. His eyes were glassy and he couldn't even keep his head straight. Car smelled like beer. At least I had the intuition to walk to the back of his car to get his plate # before he had a chance to drive off. I tried to follow him but lost him. I called the police. He hid out all night long and then turned himself in the next day when he was sober.

A couple weeks went by and he had the nerve to call me and ask that I don't tell his insurance company that he was drinking. Wait, you could have killed me or someone else and you now want me to lie? No, didn't happen.

Just insane... like you would have ANY interest in protecting him after what he did... and not just that but thinking that maybe you would go to bat for him amidst an insurance investigation... Jesus!

In my situation I think we're going to be screwed. The girl that hit us has no insurance and no license. The policy that she provided to us is her dad's policy and its some sleazy company that we haven't yet been able to get in touch with ( 1.4 star google review) and I'm afraid that by the time we're able to actually get through to them that they're going to shoot us the ghost because she's not on the policy.

So come Monday morning, we feel like they'll deny our claim. We did everything on our end that we needed to do... police report, lots of pictures, getting her info, contacting our insurance, etc. But we'll likely wind up having to go through our insurance under the 'uninsured motorist' clause, then pay the deductible out of our own pocket, and possibly wind up paying a higher premium after all is said and done... even though we have perfect driving records, no tickets/ no accidents, and weren't even in the car when it was hit.

Gotta love this crap.

The insurance policy is on the vehicle and not the driver so if there is insurance, you may be okay. Even if someone steels the vehicle and has an accident, the vehicle's insurance pays. That said, they may have the minimum coverage so if there's a lot of damage, your insurance many need to kick in also. Best of luck. Let us know how it goes after Monday.

Now, here's a curve ball that hopefully you don't get. A few years ago, a guy ran a stop sign and hit my daughter on her way to school. The gentleman did not speak English but translated through his wife on his cellphone, admitted it was his fault and seemed genuinely sorry. We called the police but since no one was hurt and both vehicles could be driven, they did not dispatch an officer and just told us to exchange information and let the insurance companies figure it out.

The vehicle did indeed have insurance and was registered. We were a little concerned as it had brand new registration and his drivers license was from out of state. We got in touch with their insurance and the insurance company tried to get in touch with their insured customer to get their side of the story. They tried three times and their insured never responded. Now wait till you hear this. The insurance company then said to us, that they do not have to pay because since their customer did not get back in touch with them, that they now consider it a breach of contract, therefore their insurance is null and void. (yes, you read that correctly) I was flabbergasted. Couldn't believe what I was hearing. The insurance employee proceeded to tell me that this is an actual thing in the insurance business. Well, we had to get an attorney involved and the insurance company did have to pay but what a crock!

Christ that would be infuriating to wind up in that situation. Really glad that they eventually paid out but that surely must've been a complete nightmare.

I'll definitely update this sometime next week. The damage isn't bad. She clipped the rear of the car and took out the drive side taillight housing ( brake/ tail/ turn still work), put a nice little dent in the rear qtr panel, and smashed in the bumper a little bit. Nothing mechanical, no frame damage, no airbag deployment... just your typical slow speed fender bender. I'm thinking around the range of $2 to 2.5k but not sure yet.

The officer that arrived on scene and took the report had a body cam and audio and he told us after talking to her, that she was recorded admitting fault. I'm wondering if we might mention that to the ins co that it might push them to honor our claim but I really don't know at this point. Anyway... we'll just take it one step at a time and see how it all shakes out.

Thanks for the added insight... much appreciated.

Update on my previous rant-

Accident happened on Friday afternoon/ Sept 17th. I filed the claim with the girl's dads insurance company on Monday/ Sept 20th. They contacted me the following day. I was surprised that they got back to me so quickly as I've heard some horrible stories about this company.

They were very professional and courteous which was also a bit of a surprise. I have to say that I found it weird that they asked me if I had taken a picture of the driver. This was obviously in order to give themselves an "easy out" regarding liability... as if maybe the vehicle was stolen. But I answered with "Um.. no. I'm not going to take a picture of a female that quite possibly could've been under age. I don't know how old she is so no... I didn't take a picture of her. But if you need a picture of her, the police that filed the accident report has full audio/ video of the girl confirming that she caused the accident and that it was her dad's truck". It's those kinds of questions that keep you on your toes when in this kind of situation.

Anyway... After concluding their interview with me, I went the next day to the local body shop that my Toyota dealer recommended. Body shop then emailed me their estimate along with an image report and I subsequently sent that to the insurance company.

So now we wait as the ball is back in their court. I still think that they're going to deny the claim since the girl wasn't listed on the policy and had no license but we'll see. The status of the girl and the details of her father's policy has to be investigated. That's understandable and expected but I'm just afraid that ultimately we're going to be shit outta luck on this one and will have to wind up going thru our insurance company to get this all settled. Anyway... now we wait.

Insurance companies should cover shit that happens. Why pay for it if it don’t get used?
