Optic Kit Coming

I absolutely love this hobby, but not enough to drop that kind of bread just to buy a single rig. But if somebody were to offer a rig of such quality, Vanquish is the name and I like seeing this for the hobby. They've offered us budget friendly RTRs and kits the past few years and then release this behemoth. Whoever on here that also has a Ripper, be sure to take pics of both of them in a shot!

No Ripper. Missed out on that. Got back into rc in 2020, too much by them for me once I saw them.

I'm setting around 1800 on my H10 Optic Kit fitted with Reefs and HW AXE/2800 combo scale hardware etc. No Aluminum Cage, Panels, Knuckles (yet) etc. Htech is 500 for the cage and 280 for the panels so 800 more if I went that route (yes I'd have the stock parts to sell make another rig out of.. ) Ive saw a few people say they're already at 3G with their current optic.

So 3500 isn't really that 'CRAZY' considering all the parts that are machined aluminum. Only about 10ish parts are from the stock H10. maybe a few less than that even.
So if you were to take a rig and fully upgrade every part of it, you'd probably be close to the same funds.
Then there is its us aluminum and all those parts are made here in the states.
And it has a damn title for them. lol

It is a bit steep as it still needs electronics, wheels, stickers/details etc... But its all VP opposed to aftermarket, mostly out of Asia.

Overall its a buy, but if it turns out 1/2 of what the Rippers have in increase in value, it'll be up to 8Grand soon enough.
Especially for those that have low numbers.

It does come with wheels - Battle Born 1.9 X-Ray Beadlocks - I'll admit I hope they sell these separately as they are really nice. No tires, though.

Frankly I think they should include scale hardware where it would look best - especially for the wheels!

Hey Speedy-Tripple, why did you decide to go full clear instead of colors?

I wanted to have the ability to have the panels anodized or cerakoted later down the road. It does say 3 month lead as well.

I just wanted to throw this out there to you and anyone else with this idea. In order to cerakote you need to sandblast it so the cerakote has something to grab onto. I'm not sure about anodizing but I would assume you'd want to start off with raw aluminum, if thats correct you would need to strip or sandblast the clear anodizing off. I know stripping can eat away material in some cases.
Not trying to be negative, I just wanted to elaborate on what that might entail.

One thing they mentioned on the live stream today was that the 3 month wait time is due to the color choices, that also relates to the cost of colors.
The way they normally get stuff anodized is in big batches that meet minimum quantities (costing less). By offering color choices they are kind of forced into getting the anodizing done under that minimum quantity and paying more for the service. That also effects the lead time because they arent just getting big batches of all color choices knocked out, instead they are made/annodized to order one by one (or in small batches as orders pile up).
They said the wait time might not be 3 months and that they kind of had to throw out a long lead time as they simply dont know how long this one by one approach will take.

They answered this on the live stream. These wheels aren't planned to be offered separately as they are meant to be special/unique to the Origin. They talked to the Battle Born guys about this project a year back and they responded saying they had the perfect wheels for the early bronco looks.

Agree on the scale hardware, it should come loaded with color of choice imo.

Thanks for the input ... Probably would not want to go down that route they mentioned during the debut livestream that panel replacement will be an option. Well see when it shows up.

I'm surprised how much I like the clear anodized body panels. They look good with black cage. The decals really work well with it.

Kinda thinking black axles and cage, bronze wheels, and either blue or grey panels?

If I spent $3.5K+ on an uncomplete kit ... would be a quick divorce for sure :ROFLMAO: I love this hobby, just not that much.

Not sure if it would be divorce but I'm right there with you on this one. My fun money and spending would definitely get clamped down.

For $3500 I better be able to sit in it and drive it home. Back around 2010 when I first had my Traxxas Slash 2wd I started looking around at other RC cars. I found that HPI made a Datsun 510 but it would have been around $500-600. I figured I could get a full size 510 for close to that. So I went and bought my real 1:1 1972 Datsun 510 for $3200 and drove it home.

I think my biggest hangup is, what am I going to do with it?

Everything i have has been pretty significantly modified, cut up, etc. I don't have anything that is stock. This has the equivalent of every upgrade part you could possibly add to an optic, plus some. Just build it and drive it every now and then? I honestly enjoy tweaking and modifying cars more than driving, and there's not really any room for that with this platform.

I'm not sure. Trying to think of it in terms of, will I regret buying it, or will I regret not buying it.
I would probably regret both ways. Having an Optic now, I don’t see myself throwing that kind of money at an alum version.

I did kick myself for not ordering a Ripper back in the day and I’ll probably do the same with this one too!😅
This sums it up for me pretty well.

I am definitely feel accountable to other people in my life. Word gets out i dropped said coin on an RC and I am more than likely subject to an intervention on more than one front..

While it may be an easier hide than a bicycle or a snowmobile my conscience would eat me alive.

...but there is no way I would buy this to be a shelf queen.
Well said!😅 My thoughts exactly!

I regret not buying the original back in the day. I had it in my cart several times but always backed out.
I’m glad I did talk myself into getting the Origin when they were released. It was my first experience with the quality of Vanquish.

I almost talked myself out of it though like I’m doing now with H10 Origin!😬

At 58, I have passed much of that give 2 shits about what others think or feel about much of any topic... lol
I got a 30ish yr old kid and sometimes an ex/not ex but still ex-wife. if that shit makes any sense. smh
Thats more than enough anymore. lmao

Sorry i meant original ripper, not origin. I didnt buy an origin either though.

The sensible part of me thinks it's a dumb purchase. But I've got almost the exact amount sitting in an old day trade account that i stopped messing with a few years ago and it has just been doing nothing. Seems like a sign.

This whole thing isn't about what makes sense it's about what you really want. If the kids have to eat cereal for dinner for a couple of months, well, they'll get over it! I've already committed to my regular Optic with all kinds of after market expense but I still put the Origin in the cart twice - and took it out twice. I'm so close...

The wheels are the most disappointing part of the kit IMO. They simply aren't that unique or new.
