Optic Kit Coming

With both axles facing forward (or backwards) the ring gear is on the same side of the pumpkin on both axles. When you position the axles so both pinions are facing each other is when the ring gears oppose each other allowing the drivetrain to turn. I don't see any differences in the third members (but I'm probably missing something?) other than the front has a side hole for a shock mounting screw but you could easily fit a lock nut there. Please clarify if I'm missing something so I can understand what is actually going on here.
This is a front axle and rear third member. Only 2 holes line up. I emailed them last night.

Check your axle bags before you get started on the build. I got two rear third members instead of a front and rear. Seen a few other people mention the same thing happening to them.
Luckily the persons that bagged mine did it right. My kit has both front and rear. I did see that on FB about the 2 rear members instead of 1 each.

I went ahead and ordered the alum third member housing from Vanquish, so this won't be an issue anyways. The alum housings are probably overkill, but they do fit all the F10 axles, so I could always use them in another rig if needed.

Ive upgraded 3 different f10 rigs to the aluminum third members. Then i tossed the dang plastic ones because i figured id never need them. But i still have a half dozen parts trees with longhorns and ammo cans from axial kits because i might use those some day.

That sounds about right! My case, lose stuff I need and find stuff I'll never use!

Why wouldn’t they just mirror the mounting? Almost looks like an oversight by the engineering department. One less part to manufacture and keep in stock.
On the f10 the lower link (and maybe the shocks) threads into the side of the front 3rd member. Doesn't look like that's the case with the h10, but since they are using the existing 3rd that's what you got.

My overachiever girlfriend has some master's class final project homework to do this week so I'm heading home tonight. I have to wrap some presents, but hope to also get started on my Optic kit. I don't have any parts and some are on my Christmas list so I won't know where I stand until after Christmas. But at least I can get started!

I'll post it here as well since this thread is more centered on the Optic. China makes aluminum third members that come with metal bearing retainers. See the link below.

That is very tempting. Well under half the price of the VP part

I got my rear axle and transmission built last night. It is amazing how much weight difference there is between the lightweight machined transmission gears and the stock sintered gears. The difference with the transfer case gearset is not as drastic though.

On the other one, I'm second guessing my plans of building it with portals. Might just order a couple front H10s.

I remember looking this up and being surprised.

The lightweight front gears save 24.6g while the lightweight t-case gears save 14.2g. Just the lightweight large front gear alone probably reduces more weight from the transmission than the entire t-case gear set.

For the livestream deal this week, Vanquish is running 20% off the H10 front axle. Coupon code h104ws. I bought two.

I think the rtr is included in the deal too?

Did they say just the front? or I thought they said axles, aka both F and R?

The 20% lasts all week, and DOES Count on the RTR Optics (Sparco and Yokahama).

No on housing as of yet, but they did mention maybe they'll be bagging this week still.

The code worked for me and I bought two fronts for $224, which was about $56 off normal price. I was still trying to decide if I was going to do portals or straight axles but that made my decision. Guess my Phoenix will stay in its current form.

I'll order links shortly. Looks like I just need 4 packs of their 124mm titanium links for it. All thats left for me to get is a transmission. Probably going to get a VRD Carbon transmission from a part out.

What's the 20% off code for the RTR?

EDIT: I just tested it, looks like the same code (h104ws) will take an even $100 off the RTR!

Decisions, decisions........

Yes, they said on the livestream it would knock about $100 off the H10 RTR. This is similar to the deal they had for Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday. Good deal.
