Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

Welp, as usual your guys were right. Shock and fork were both down about 10psi, derp. Thanks for the tip!
Told ya  I picked up a pump yesterday, set my rear shock to 205 psi and my front to 95, just to try it out. Also, the one I got has a knob on it behind the one you use to tighten it to the valve, so you can loosen the smaller knob and pulls the valve in the pump away from the valve of the shock so you only loose the air that's in the pump line, not from the shock.

Also got a new jersey too since it was on sale, same as this but short sleeve

Yeah, I'm only losing what's in the line as well. I'm going to order a set of volume spacers for my rear shock too, too linear of a curve for me. I have to give up small bump compliance so my fat ass doesn't bottom it out on bigger hits.

I'm running a Fox RP23 with a Vorsprung corset on it. Volume spacers are on the list for me as well for my portly self. With that corset on, I'm already running about 225psi and still hitting bottom way too often.

I'm gonna mess with both the shock and fork. Going to add one more spacer to the fork, and most likely will do the .40" on the shock to start with. I just want a bit in reserve for bigger hits, or things that catch me off guard at speed when following friends on their home trails.

How much do you weigh? I'm 175 geared up and run 200-215lbs on my float X with the vorsprung corset. You might want to put the regular can back on and start messing with the spacers.

I'm 220 + gear, and my Ellsworth runs a fairly high leverage ratio (2.63). I just need to get some volume spacers in to tune the compressed end of the stroke. I definitely don't want to go back to the stock can, the Vorsprung is SO much better!

Also, I should lose some weight...

I,ve spent ages tuning my RP23 shock and while i,ve got it pretty good , I have come to the conclusion that they just don,t like the giants Maestro linkage

I am sending my Float CTD to Avalanche Racing to try out their tune. I have been somewhat please with Push Ind in the past. But, I have a buddy that LOVES the work done by Avalanche.

A brand new Pike on the front, soon to be Avalanche in the rear... excited to get my bike back together. "thumbsup"

Forgot to drop a line... Each year we put on a race in our little town. It is the first Enduro race in the States. (So Enduro... before Enduro :ror:) This is our 11th year. We've had the honor of Mark Weir, Ben Cruz, Ali Joulet and others enjoy our course. Come join us and have a beer. It is completely a volunteer based race, always looking for volunteers and racers.

Well, I went out for a long awaited ride today, it was so nice I could actually wear shorts.

I heard the horn blowing when I was just coming out of the Subway (what we call this overpass), so I got across the street in time to catch it.

Hit up my local riding spot yesterday ( Pipeline Gap Creek ) was on a bit of a mission , came round a fast blind corner , to be confronted by a Brown snake that was right on my line and had 2 options , either run straight over the top of it or veer left of the mountain .

I chose the 1st option and can tell you that fear is a liquid and comes out of 2 orifices in 2 different colors , yellow and brown

For all you guys that are using Strava, I have heard that thieves are using Stava to locate people with nice bikes to steal them (the bikes, not people).

As in, hiding on the trails you ride and ambushing you?

Nah, people smart enough ;-) to start/stop their Strava adventures right from their houses. In the last few weeks there have been a lot of high-end bike thefts in the Salt Lake City area. It is thought that a lot of them are due to Strava.

Common sense, start/stop Strava from the trailhead.

Good idea, I was just going to say that if y'all can't get the stock shock dialed in (especially heavier and/or more aggressive riders) then it's probably time to buy a new better shock and have it tuned to you specifically. "thumbsup" Pike is nice.

I picked up a bike a month ago to get into riding. I have about 24 miles of singletrack only a half mile from my new house. Looking forward to getting my ass kicked. It's been years since I have rode a bike and I have never ridden single track. Now just need the snow to melt.

Fuji Outland 1.0 29er, Reba fork, XT components, ect. Should do the trick.

Congrats on your new bicycle, now make sure you RIDE it regularly. "thumbsup" :)

Thanks for posting back, doesn't take a lot to ruin your suspension tune. "thumbsup"
