Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

^^I like that color scheme much better than the green one.

So do I, it looks reallllyyyyy nice in person. I could have gotten one today, but all they had in stock was a XL which I knew was way too big, so I ordered a large. They said it's going to be about 3 weeks before it's here, which I don't mind since there's snow and ice on all the trails here.

The 1x12 is really cool, but even cooler is that my X1 will be steadily dropping in price now that it's old stuff. "thumbsup"

How long is that derailleur cage??? The best rears for me have been Shimano Shadow, nice and tight in away from sticks, I always run as short a cage as possible for ground, stick, rock etc. clearance. "thumbsup" Shimano little more money, SRAM kinda more disposable components, I don't mind as much on mtb vs road.

That said my geared mtb is currently setup with 2x9 (front big ring replaced with small bash guard), mid-cage rear derailleur and all SRAM."thumbsup"

I've found that buying good chains and cleaning the entire drivetrain regularly helps with chain/sprocket life a LOT...also will shift more consistenlty. ...I should clean mine more often, but too busy riding...

Best chains for me SS and geared mtb and road have been KMC and Shimano.

I've been gathering parts for a new hardtail build that I'll post up when it's finished. It'll consist of an On-One 45650b frame in raw, Suntour Auron RC2 fork, XT 1x11 drivetrain, Deore brakes, Easton Haven cockpit, Hope Pro 4 Evo hubs laced to Easton Arc27 rims, Specialized tires and saddle.

Should be a fun bike! At this point I only have the frame, but most of the parts arrive this coming week with the exception of the Shimano stuff. Waiting on Shimano to get a few pieces back in stock.

Getting stoked for this season, been riding my fatbike with no suspension all winter and while I'm happy I've kept myself in *some* sort of shape I am 100% over the fatbike for the season haha, I have no idea why anyone would want to ride one in anything other than snow or sand.

Did a brake upgrade on my Nomad for this season, there's a few other things I'd like to upgrade but brakes were on the top of the list, next winter maybe do new hubs or a complete new wheelset.

Finally got to get out yesterday after work, I got some work to do to get my ass back in shape. Just my local trails, but better than nothing.

Well, picked 'er up yesterday, came a couple weeks sooner than expected, thanks Giant  Also picked up a bike rack at the same time that I need to put together today. Also, the bike was put together and tuned for me and my weight by the head tech at Mike's Bike Shop (my LBS I deal with) who is a sponsored Giant rider.

there's only one problem I see^^^It's too damn clean!!!!lol. A new pedal and a dropper post would a good touch.

Dropper post I'll probably get later on, but the pedals will stay. I had to buy pedals for it so I got DMR V8's, I don't like clip ons, and feel more at home on flats since I used to ride bmx. And it'll be staying clean for a while as it's still too cold to ride.

Ive had great luck with the DMR plastic pedals and they are super light. Here is my old Shore 3. From 45 lbs. Now she is down to 32 lbs and I think there is more room for improvements. I have since change to a carbon seatpost aswell. Still pretty stable going downhill. It had to loose weight because we have to bike almost 12 miles to get to our downhill spot and at 45 lbs, it's a real challenge.lol

Went for a small ride today...my god I'm out of shape for this bike haha. Also, what can I do to stiffen up the rear shock? Add more air? It just seems pretty soft, tons on pedal bob when I stand up, so much so I can't really pedal doing that. It's a Rockshox Monarch R.

-Set your air to the right sag
-slow rebound down if still too much bob
