Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

Finally got to get out for a real ride yesterday at Tsali, counqured a couple climbs I've never made, lots of fun, but man I was shot at the end. I did this route on purpose because it's the hardest stuff Tsali has to offer IMO, trying to focus on technical hard climbing to get better in Pisgah. Made some adjustments on the (not so) new bike, awfully close to not touching anything anymore.

This climb is referred to by a friend of mine as Angie's hell, for a friend of his that broke a rib going up it.

Windy Point (climbed that too, also my favorite spot in Tsali most likely)

You have an extra couch I could crash on? Those trails look awesome.

Hell, I got a whole guest room, come on out. "thumbsup" It's only a very short stretch that's like that though, most of Tsali is (older) buff flow trail. Now Pisgah on the other hand, ranges from flow to death march. It's all old fall line logging and railway beds that have been abandoned and eroded. The old saying is that all the trails in western NC were built with mountain biking in mind. Pisgah wasn't, but it tolerates those that have the legs and lungs to get there.

I miss mtbing.

I rode bmx when I was younger (street, park and some dirt) so when my wife and I got into mtb's it was awesome. Well my wife can't ride anymore so that was short lived

XJrob, you should keep riding and help your wife to do the appropriate stretching, exercise, and yoga that she can. Getting old can be a pita, but I've found that all the aforementioned helps me a lot. :)

Lol we're not old (well not too old lol). I'm 30 and she's 29. She's had a few surgeries that keep her from being able to do anything rough on the body like mtbing.

I would love to stay into it but it was one of those things we did together, feel like a dick doing it w/o her bc I know how much she misses it.

OK, getting older lol, stay in shape before you get old (don't have to run/bike marathons) and maintain it...it will serve you well when you are old. Can she ride road bicycle, city/cruiser bike? When my body is aching and needs less high impact activities, I ride more roadbike. Do other things together like walking, hiking, swimming or whatever works for her abilities. :)

^^Yep, the older I get (turned 41 in January) the more I realize that just moving is what's important. Having a desk job isn't helping any, but I try and walk at least a mile on the days I'm not cycling, or running (just started this a few weeks ago on Mondays). Even when I'm coming off being on the couch all winter, I can hammer out a 25 mile road ride, or 15 mile MTB ride, but running is a whole other can of ass whoop.

Speaking of moving, third Monday in row running today. Figure it belongs in here, as I'm only doing it to help my cycling.

I might have to make a trip out there one of these days.

Good for you Rob!!

Alec (I think that's right), anytime you want to come out man, you're always welcome here.

Hmmm...RCC goes to Pisgah? I'm down. Also, you North Carolinians should venture up and check out our SWVA offerings. Plenty of good stuff around Roanoke.

I could probably do that this year, and I'll make the same off I made Alec, you're welcome to come crash here for some riding. I'm about an hour and a half from Pisgah, DuPont, or Bent Creek, give or take a half hour.
