Took the SS out for the first time in a while yesterday, I think it hates me.

Oh ok thought you had crash.

Side tracked sometimes that's cool part of the mtb adventure. Sometimes on SS I get into nature and the awesomeness of it all!

Just saw pics today of treks new ex platform 27.5+ bike, looks to be pretty nice. I'm a huge fan of the ex bikes and it comes in a few hundred less than the big S's offerings...

So I rode Chicopee Woods on Thursday. I was worried the whole way there, it was drizzling rain of course. I met and talked to really nice local guy, who mentioned that him and his buddy had headed back it was so wet up top (Copperhead Gap). But, he mentioned that the trails dry really well, I checked the radar, and gave it a half hour and headed out. By the time I got to the upper trails, it was nothing but hero dirt, I had such a good time.

Also, I just want to give a shout out to all the GA peeps, you folks are the best. I've yet to come down there to ride, and encounter nothing less than people that want to chat or give advice in the parking lot, ask if you're OK if you're taking a break on the trail ETC. Hell, I don't even get that kind of courtesty on my home trails.

You folks are the best I've encountered yet, until you're in a car on 985 that is. I keed, I keed, kinda.

I took cover on a bridge with a roof over it, along with 6 other bikers for about 10 minutes. Soaked is an understatement, considering I was about 10 km's away from my car when it started sprinkling.

Ride more, go every other day if you can, but make an easy spinny ride in between each harder efffort where there was more climbing involved. The spinny flatland recovery ride helps muscles recover with mild exercise, more blood flow, loosens up sore tight muscles. :) Eat and sleep well, cut back on all junk/crap foods, candy, sugar etc...you'll feel better overall too.

Thank you for the advice.

I'm trying to get out as much as possible.

Last two days I've hit up the trails right after work and took a short ride with the kids in the evening.

Your'e welcome and good. Don't push yourself too hard if you can't make it up a steep or difficult hill, no shame in walking to ride again tomorrow and if you keep riding, you will ride up it another day. :)

Nate is pretty much dead on, But, I'll add that road biking has helped my mountain biking more than anything else. Alternatively, some hiking, jogging, and light weight training (bulk is just more bulk you have to haul up every hill) will all help.

Thanks Hpiguy, yes road biking is a huge help in long-term stamina, a road cyclist with mtb skills will usually outride a strictly mtb rider on the dirt. If you can make the spin rides on paved path, that is great.

Also to go along with that just ride as much as you can, to build muscle you need to use muscle. It's definitely going to suck for the first month, but it will get better. Also, your cardio has about a 2 week shelf life, or muscle memory, before it starts to decrease so try not to take a long extended hiatus (unless injured of course).
