Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

I picked up a set of Magic Marys for my bike. I will be putting some miles on them this weekend.

Been tinkering around with the squishy bike suspension a bit. Ordered the volume spacer kit for the shock, installed the largest one for a more exponential compression curve, dropped 10psi, and I'm in love. A lot more small bump compliance, yet not even close to bottoming out on some fairly technical stuff Sunday. Have the fork volume spacers on order also. We went and rode White Twister and Stonewall Falls in Tiger GA. I had no idea stuff like this existed close by. Not as technical as Pisgah, but a fair bit of techy stuff, and lots of steep climbing. We had a real adventure, two guys burped their tubeless setups running too low a pressure, and on the second one of the day the skies opened up and it fell a damn flood on us. The last five miles or so was a wet, slimy, slippery, mess. And the 2 mile downhill run back to the falls got a lot more interesting will off camber roots and rocks, and some fairly big falls if you got it wrong. It kicked my ass big time, but I had a freaking blast, and I'll definitely be back!

Shock torn down and the spacer on the left.

Bike got a bit filthy, pics don't do it justice, first time it's stayed in the garage since I bought it.

Forgot to start my Garmin, as usual. Ride was just over 15 miles total.

Nice Bikes page after page after page... Sweet locations too.

I live in the suburbs and all I have locally is 95% pavement ( and snow for 4 months ) so there's no need for "real" MTB, to commute I got pair of hardtails, one for dry and another for wet&snow to do my 9+ miles daily

GoogleMaps estimated that ride to work should take some 30 minutes and in the winter with 2-3" of snow it's about right, Summer timing is still in the works but using both, road and pedestrian sidewalk ( legal ) and jumping few set of lights ( no so legal ? ) it's getting there...

New bike day! Finally finished up the new hardtail and got out for a ride this morning. It was mostly a shakedown ride on some easy little trails in town. Going for a proper ride this weekend at some point. It's a hell of a fun bike so far and very versatile. Travel can be ran anywhere between 120-160mm on this frame and it's currently set to 140mm.

Specs:
Frame - On-One 45650b
Fork - Suntour Auron RC2
Drivetrain/Brakes - Shimano XT M8000 1x11
Bars/Stem/Seatpost - Easton Haven
Saddle - Specialized Phenom Comp
Tires - Specialized Butcher front/Specialized Slaughter rear - 27.5x2.3
Wheels - Hope Pro4 Evo hubs laced to Easton Arc27 rims with DT Competition Race spokes
Weight - 26lbs 12oz without pedals

your gonna love that bike. By far indeed the most versatile bike I have. Here is mine getting some much needed love. 4000 miles into it and a loose rear wheel hub and my clipless pedals that wont unclip anymore (not good when you find out while your riding.lol).

Here is my morning commute today. I thought it's worth a snap.

So far I'm liking it a lot. I took it out for a proper ride on Saturday evening and I think once I get use to it, it'll really be good. I'm use to a 150mm full squish with a dropper post, so a hardtail without one is a bit different. My coworker has a 26" 456 and really loves it.
