Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

Yes, I drank the Kool Aid, and was brainwashed by all the marketing hype...

Second (27+) wheelset! Scrapers, Salsa hubs, and Vee Trax Fatty. Raised the BB by about .5 inch (which in my opinion is a good thing).

Setting up tubeless was a so easy. Setting up my studded D4s on the Marge Lites for winter use.

This set-up has all the benefits of Fat with about 2 pounds less rotational weight. The extra height is noticeably good. It rips (weighs around 26 lbs):

Anyone getting into the 29er+ category? I just bought a gravity 29plus from BD. Pretty nice bike for the money.

A few of my buddys ride 29ers and swear by them. I'm only 5'10" and for me they feel too big - like driving a truck. I have a Scott Scale 27.5 hardtail and LOVE it. Also has SRAM XX1 on it. Will never go back to 2 chain rings in the front.

Hello all. I will add to this thread a little bit.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I'm kicking myself for not getting into biking sooner. As much as I love the RC thing, I should have had a better balance between RC and other things. I made a lot of friends through RC but the bike has done wonders for my health. Not dropping a ton of weight, but my cardio has improved 1000% so far.

I've also bought 4 bikes in the past 12 months "thumbsup"

And I thought RC was expensive...

Dang, Axial was not a company I thought of hitting up for sponsorship. I am a promoter for the longest running enduro race in the country, the Fears Tears and Beers in Ely, NV. https://www.facebook.com/FearsTearsBeers This year will be our 10th anniversary. Weir, Cruz as well a few more pro riders have attended our event.

The Dirty Sanchez looks like a great time. "thumbsup"

We need to get together and ride this summer. You're not that damn far away! "thumbsup"

I was finally able to get on my bike again a few times this week after 6 months of winter...My sit bones are definitely feeling it. I started a new job last month (Cabela's) so I'll be looking at getting a new saddle. Any recommendations on what to look for? I like the saddle I have on my bike, it's just not comfortable after an hour or so...

What saddle do you have currently? Something with a cut-out for eustachian tube comfort is good.

Best seat ever......Schwinn Quilted Spring Bike Seat - Walmart.com "thumbsup"

I hear ya though, I rode 11.5 miles in a freaking windstorm today, 25-35 MPH gust, made it feel like 50 miles. My first ride in a few months and I felt like Bubba got ahold of me!

I have question for you fellas that ride a lot. I've been out of riding for several years now but want to get back into it. I have a high end FOES full suspension bike I put together a while back but I'm looking for a high end hard tail.

The LBS has a left over 2014 BMC TEO2 29. Nicely equipped for 25% off.
Good Trail bike or strictly Cross Country Racer?

They also have the 2016 Trek Stache 29+. The 3" tires look like a blast, right between the standard and the Fatty. I got a little bit of sticker shock on the price but what a cool looking ride.

The Stache might be a little bit of a reach but any info on the BMC would be appreciated. Thank You.

That will fit perfect on mine

Yeah, it sucked, I could only do 10 miles on the first ride. I also have to build up my stamina again, but that shouldn't take too long.

That saddle already has lots of padding from the looks of it, but not much ergo going on with it.

Try Specialized Phenom or Hinge (stay at Comp level or above), ride more with good chamois and your ass will get used to it. More padding usually gets in the way (bunches up and pinches your skin or bulges up and puts pressure where you don't want it) during long and/or aggressive rides. Same goes for overly flexible saddles...not good because they change shape as you ride due to your weight pressing down on them, some of them turn into a hammock shape.

Well since it was snowing today I figured it was a good time to switch out my SLX stuff to XT. New brakes, shifters, deraillers and some KCNC goodies, seat collar, crank bolt, derailler wheels, and rotor bolts.
