Official MTB / Mountain Biking Chit Chat

My B Day present from the Wife, 2015 Specialized Camber 29. My last bike a GT Karakorem Elite was stolen a few months back when she forgot to close the garage. Worse, I was 10 feet away in the kitchen and didn't hear a thing.
Anyway it's a hell of an upgrade. I'm taking it out this morning for its maiden voyage...can't wait!

Haha, we're brothers, kinda.

Went on a ride today with one of the guys from pink bike. It was hot(for this time of year), loose, and dry. Cool guy though. I got some video of one of the downhills that went to shit real quick after making a bad line choice. Got some pics of my bike too but he has to send me those.

I'll post the vid later after it's all done.

bought a helmet last night, going to pick up the Badger Fattywompus Two soon.
I found out a friend get's 40% off Surly and was thinking of going that way till I discovered the Icecream Truck (equvilent) is still $500 more (including the 40% off) than the Badger.

Opinion time, padded riding shorts or just cowboy up?? Been out for a couple 20k rides the last couple days and holy beejesus my arse is tender. My riding buddies had said a while ago to invest in some padded riding shorts, are they worth it or should I just get break my ass into the seat haha.

I wouldn't ride without them. Pearl izumi makes some of the most durable and comfortable shorts, best ones for my butt.

Rode for years, for hours daily without em. Got em. Meh.

And I got zero butt. Straight to the bone pretty much.

The only riding I do without them is commuting. On shorter MTB rides I don't think they're completely necessary, but for longer rides they definitely help with comfort. I would say they're worth it for sure. I typically wear my road bibs under some baggy shorts.

This X2

Well I took my bike to the doctor today and it turns out my tune-up bill is going to be 3 or so times higher than I originally thought haha, sooo I guess them riding shorts will just have to wait.
