New Holmes Hobbies ESC spotted: Crawlmaster Mini V1

I’ll be running my first one on a team brood 1850kv... I’m anxious for the programming to be available so I can run it on 4s...

Lou

I got mine the other day but still waiting on a 2500kv 10 pole revolve to show up (should be here Friday according to the tracking number). I run 4S on my Mamba X in my Sherpa, this will replace the SW4/2500kv 14 pole setup in my GSpeed V3. I may just wait for the software to come out before I get too excited about it.

Got my Revolver today, I'll be putting it in once I get home from work in the morning. I will advise that my buddy has already smoked his using 4S!! I wasn't around when it happened but supposedly he was trying to catch a rollover and it let out the magic smoke. Corrupt carbon rig so it shouldn't be a weight issue...

Do you know what motor it was? If its a 2500kv they are limited to a 10 pole though I think that was more to do with not having the best startup.

It was one of the new 10 pole 2500kv revolvers. He's already got a copperhead on the way. He emailed them but hasn't heard back yet.

I got to drive my buddies rig with one of these today with the new 10 pole motor. It’s incredibly smooth and I can’t wait to get my hands on one. I don’t mind the revolver noise most of the time, but having the thing be dead silent after know what noise they make is a whole other experience. Hats off to JRH

I got mine soldered up this morning and plan on getting it installed in the rig sometime within the next few days. I've got a 10 pole 2500kv snubnose but will keep it on 3S until I verify the unit is ready for 4S.

I just got mine today and had a quick look at the product page for a wiring diagram and noticed John posted up a video on how to solder it up which is nice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivE9iPwdG8k&t=12s

In the comments some other guys are having issues and John responded to say "we have some voltage and kv limits right now. 1400kv for 4s use, 1800kv on 3s with 9t pinion on capra, etc."

I thought I also heard him say once the programming is done it will be able to handle the higher KVs and voltages though I'm having a hard time finding that part of the video.

So I'm gonna play it safe and wait on the programming.

if your testing it on the bench just run it with you fingers on the fets, you can feel the heat, Hot means it burns your hand, They can handle 100c, you are only 32c and 40c is noticeably warm. I can't hold it past 70c or so. I am not sure how his are programed to run, but mine have an initial 10% period were they generate a ton of heat, as the sinusoidal is fairly inefficient. People burn them up because they don't do any testing or watching the heat... or they don't understand what type of driving causes heat, it not as simple as just full throttle creates heat.

My buddy just send me this, looks like the included BEC is not up to the task. They will be offering a credit to be put towards a castle BEC.

I have this new esc with the 10 pole stubby in my class 2 truck at the moment. It is indeed smooth and has very good startup generally. There is a *little* cogging at extremely low speed with the right amount of load on it, but it seems to be a really narrow window. I can also see when it switches control modes sometimes when going from very low speed to a little higher speed, but you almost have to be looking for it to notice it. I'm planning to try the esc with one or two other motors to see how it is. But man is it nice to have a quiet outrunner.

I never even used the included BEC, I'm using CC 10 amp BEC with mine.

Here is mine…. I also never used the included BEC and went strait to the CC. This set up is using a Team Brood Riot S 1850kv with the CMM and two, 3s 520mah batteries. I’m getting 24min run times and the motor/ esc combo is absolutely baller. Everything else I drive is garbage now, lol.

Any word on when these are coming back? I know he said roughly 2 weeks. I’m just waiting very impatiently

I'm running the included BEC on a 2500kv 10 pole revolver stubby with a 1300mah 3S pack with no issues. I went through three packs this weekend with no issues. Dead silent startup and only a hint of whine at full throttle. Well worth the money and effort, and I'm patiently waiting on the programmer.

That’s great to hear! I went strait to the CCbec and haven’t had any issues. I’m dying for the programmer but I’m about to order a 1400kv so I can have some sweet 4s action!

I'm getting a fair amount of coging on initial startup is anyone else? I can drive through it and after a bit more throttle it goes away. I tested it with a few other revolvers and they all do this.

I get the same. What radio are you using? I’m literally editing a video right now showing what it does. Have you driven the rig or just run it on the bench? I find that as soon as I put the truck on the ground, the motor loads up and stops cogging, even at the lowest possible power setting. It’s really weird, lol.

So far I've only ran it on the floor, I haven't loaded it up on a hill yet though. I took the motor out of the rig and tested it that way too, still cogs a bit a the lowest speed.

I might do a short video as well.

Thanks TK421
