I was just perusing the Holmes Hobbies site and stumbled across a new ESC

https://holmeshobbies.com/electronics-and-wiring/speed-controllers/crawlmaster-mini-esc.html

It looks to be the new ESC meant to make the revolvers quiet, though I thought that was going to be call the 'Silencer'. The description says "100% silent with all motors"

This thing sounds like one of their bare ESC's (no heat sink, no wires yet)

I would assume they'll have a complete version with heat sink, wires and all.

No pics yet but there is a description

Great catch - and very interesting specs!

Looking forward to some video from him demonstrating it with a Revolver, as it is one of my all-time favorite motors... "thumbsup"

Can’t wait… going to have to do some waterproofing for sure considering how wet it is up here in the pnw, but man I’m stoked! And the price is right

This is what the basic ESC looks like:

Nice and tiny though you are required to run a separate BEC which makes it a little less compact.

I see that the PCB says Silencer on it, I guess they decided on a different name.

In this weeks scale news update Josh mentioned there will be a small BEC included that can at least power the receiver, but definitely not a servo.

In case anyone missed it:

Yeah, something about Holmes couldn’t post about it on social media without getting flagged when it was going to be called the Silencer.

Also, they just posted a pic of a fully wired version complete with external BEC and a JST lead for external servo power.

That bec is probably only like 1A, so don't try to use it on a high power servo. I Imagine this will cause some customer service issues in the future.

It does come with a tap to directly power the servo, so shouldn't be an issue, but people are people, so it probably will be.

The fact that its sort of a DIY version might weed out the folks who may try to power a servo with it.... maybe lol

It should be in stock on friday.

NICE!

I've been checking daily lol

Thanks for the heads up "thumbsup"

Can someone enlighten me on the KV/pole limitations they listed?

2200kv limit 14 pole (Revolver), 2500kv limit 10 pole (Revolver 10p), 2700kv limit 6 pole and 4 pole (Crawlmaster BL, 6 shooter and Puller Pro)

All of the current HH revolvers are 14 pole

I have a 2500KV (14pole) revolver, would this be over the limit? Im not sure if having more or less poles puts a motor over these limits?

Seems like maybe the less poles there are the higher the KV limit. Any insight would be appreciated "thumbsup"

MOVE QUICK they're in stock now

Okay well maybe the answer has just been listed on the HH site. There are now 10 pole revolvers for their 2500kv offerings, I assume they're intended for this ESC. It also looks like they took down some of the 2500kv 14 pole motors.

https://holmeshobbies.com/motors/brushless-motors/revolver-series.html

I'm hoping the RTR version will have a heat sink and the ability to run a 14 pole 2500 KV which I bought in anticipation of this ESC

If anyone missed it John also mentioned a batch will go up tomorrow. He also posted up on facebook to say they would be putting these up at 9:00 EST today so he may do the same tomorrow (posting a time they may go up).
