Losi Steering mod design

A fair price depends on what it comes with? I'd like just the tubes to tinker with and install on my own.

A really hard question for something so unique. Perhaps post a picture of exactly what you're wanting to sell and invite PM offers. So basically an auction. Do that a few times and you'll know what the market will bear. Nice looking parts. Similar to the original TAG trumpet design that I believe was never produced.
Thanks for the input, and I thought I had come up with a new design!!!"thumbsup"

Do the scx10 ii unis fit the losi locker?

I think the tubes and shafts and possibly the modified housing would be the best kit. And if someone wants a complete rtr housing you could sell it like that too. But personally, I would just want tubes, shafts and if I'm feeling lazy, modified housing as well.

What about more width options, like an XR width?

Thanks for the response guys, helps a lot.

The SCXii unis are modified to fit the Losi locker. I have tried a couple different ways of doing this, and I think both ways would work.

To put together as a kit I would need to come up with a OD size that would work for the wraith and SCXii C-hubs, that I think would fit both. Not a big challenge. I could do widths by request as they come, so doable.
I will post up a photo of what I think a kit would look like."thumbsup"

With the design as you see it here, the axle housing is machined to take the brass tube and the brass is red locktited to the housing half and screwed in.
More of what most of you are thinking you want?

Perfect. Tubes, shafts and modified housing for a kit.

Whats up with the tangs? Did you make a sleeve thats glued on like TAG did?

I used a I/2" long ss sleeve, the tangs from a couple rear axles, and axial unis. I machined the shaft end of the tang to fit in the sleeve, and did the same to the uni shaft. A little Saftey silv 56, flux, torch and they are together. I said in the beginning that I would try and design these for durability and as cost effectively as I can, that's what I came up with. I have over 40 hours into this R&D and I don't even have Losi that is running. I know it isn't the tag design but maybe there as reason he isn't doing them any more $$."thumbsup"

Most likely. Red locktite works surprisingly well for working as an adhesive when it comes to tight tolerances.

edit: In most cases this is used for metal on metal contact. :)

Do you really mean you put locktite between the brass and plastic housing?
Is that a bad thing I don't know about? Ernie

I just wanted to add a little more strength the link and shock side of the housings."thumbsup"

Almost all Loctites will degrade plastic. If you need to glue the brass inserts to the housing, suggest epoxy. If you need it to come apart, suggest hot-melt glue which releases when alcohol is applied.

If still in doubt, Google: "will loctite hurt plastic?"

Hey WAM, thanks for taking the time to share this info with us. Part of taking care of each other, love it.
And by the way, I wasn't questioning you, just didn't know.

No, I didn't think you were questioning me. I like your design. My design (and TAG) has an exterior sleeve on the outer part of the housing and I've broken the plastic axle housing three times. Your insert should fare much better. I hope you can bring it to market affordably. It looks like a lot of work is involved.

Thanks for the input, still refining. I just sent three option out for testing today. I'm not really looking for a market, just trying to design a product to fill a need for a few Losi guys. I'm retired, and I want to stay that way!"thumbsup"

You won't be if you keep making awesome stuff like this. Lol

So, after a little discussing it with Robbob I thought I might put together a XR width axle. Would I be wasting my time, or is it something some of you may want???"thumbsup"

I maybe interested in an XR width for m th sporty. Great looking design, I have spent the past couple days looking for something just like this.

Definitely interested in XR width

I would be interested for sure. Currently building a tuber with losi worms and I want more width.

I think you know my answer. Lol."thumbsup"

Ok, I got in a couple sets of housings today, so I can put a little time in tomorrow. What is the width hex to hex for the Xr mod? I think the three sets at the scale width that went out should be up and running next week sometime. I don't want to do to much until I know how they are going to work out! "thumbsup"

I got Jr's in the mail this afternoon. Will try to get them installed this weekend and send Cody boy a review.
