Knightrunner, getting back into scale builds, kinda

Finally got a day out where nothing failed (1080 esc issue was just back luck, got a bad one, new one works amazing) and almost say I didn't break anything. Stick got in and yanked the left tail light bucket off, grrr.

Looks like good times and a great place to do some tiny truckin'!!

Damn that's some mudding!
Not "intentional" but things thawed early (many areas were dried by the time we came back to head out) and we just had snow and ice storms the last 2 weeks. Not something I want to do on a regular basis, that was alot of cleaning afterwards and being 50°ish outside was rather cold to be outside spraying it off lol.

So on top of getting a 3d printer and learning it, started learning to play with CAD. Found a bumper on thingiverse that I made a ton of changes to (along with help from SM in fixing the original file problem).

Took the light bar out of the the club 5 bumper, the hole for the fairlead goes all the way through I just need to deal with the KR skid then I can out a winch. Lots of other changes to make fit.

Then designed it to use the factory bumper mount design. But the rods are separate pieces held in by screws in the bumper. So if I snap one, can print more (already have 2 spares printed already) instead of an entire bumper.

A few tweaks to make, like the light pod holes somehow I changed something after I expanded them to size of the light pods I have, which brought them down 1.5mm, so pods won't fit.

Get put through the paces tomorrow, see how it holds up. Kind of want to try and mod the KR skid plate so it is set back a little further but I'll see how she does.

Next up is rear bumper system.

Also have a new clear body so I can redo some things, SM printed the kr light pods and such for me so those will go on the new body. This one is going "how my 1:1 would be built if I had unlimited funds" since he printed an exact 1/10 scale hard body for me (next build).

Well prototype bumper held up amazingly. Beat the crap out of it all day. Using the new PLA Tough and its alot stronger than expected.

At the end of the day I started ramming into the block wall with it till it broke, took 3 hits at full speed and it broke the mounting pins as designed. Had several tweaks to make to the design anyway, but the bumper itself is still perfectly useable. Third hit also broke 1 point of the bull bar loose. But all day, plenty of rolls, flips, bouncing off rocks and such, 0 issues.

Wish I had gotten more pics, the place I went was awesome. All built by the club over there at the city park.

Camping trip this weekend. We went exploring one of the hiking trails. Found a cave near the base of the bluffs overlooking the river that I sent the truck in as light with my oldest following with the camera. Didn't go back very far that we could tell without risking my rig. Next time it'll be gopro and a line attached to it in case there's a ledge or something.

Moved up to 4.75 tires to try them. Made today way too easy, should have hit the other local spot lol.

That said, new body is coming along. Going to have 2 bodies. The current installed One for trying to follow comp rigs and such where I can't care about it taking a tumble down the rocks cause it's gonna happen.

The second will he a fully detailed and fitted one, make it basically what I would do to my 1:1 if I had a bottomless bank account or no wife and kids lol.

Also decided to go brushless on this thing. Brushed system will go into the hard body build where performance won't matter as much.

Haven't updated in a while. New body done except wiring up the rest of the lights. Full KC drop bed now, interior with a "driver", SSD aluminum ifs gearbox housing, ssd diamond rear axle going on this week.

I can't seem to leave well enough alone lol

She sure does look beautiful! Great job on the body and all of the prints!"thumbsup" The headlights look great! I still need to get my interior and bed printed.

I see Grogu is gonna have a great time wheeling the Yota!:)

How well does the interior fit with that ESC? Well done, might I add. I like the green.
Actually the wiring is giving me minor fits to get the body to sit down all the way but it's the motor wiring that's being the headache I think. I need to play with it more. Probably put a little grease on the points in think may be holding the interior up a smidge and do a little trimming. With my winch and everything I don't have room up front to cram the esc.

Another idea is move winch and such down to the plate and come up with a fancy cable routing so I can put esc up front if that is causing the issue.

SSD Diamond rear axle in.

GKS sway bar kit installed

Added some Treal Brass link mounts for a bit more weight.

I just realized you are running Desert Lizards. How are you liking them? I have a set I've yet to put on another rig.

Wish they had more spring rate options, were a bit difficult to get set right for this build. Partially because they have 10mm more travel than "rated" . But performance wise once set up, love them!

Did a class 2 comp today for giggles, had the gatekeeper/hilux mess and this.

Though the gk was able to really deal the the terrain better, this in part thanks to the rear swaybar, I did substantially better just because I know this rig so well.

Obviously didn't make podium or anywhere close, both rigs finished, this one with like 13 less points somehow. But my rc4wd winch got a workout and complaints from guy on winch pole cause this rig is heavy but that RC4WD warn 9.5 was pulling it. Guy had to actually plant himself to hold the pole [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787] whoever says those scale winches can't do crap ain't used one direct wired to a 3 cell.

Sorry for lack of pics.

Got 2 more in this series, I'll do them both with both rigs. Hopefully have at least oldest boy with me to get some video/pics.
