Jimmy's build along buggy thread

It's a concern, but I've found the fusion to run cool crawling so we'll see. I added 3 vent holes on each side of the motor, and there is a small air gap around the motor inside the printed case. I also printed the most recent model in petg so it can handle heat a bit better than pla I was using for the test pieces.
Took a few tries, but I've got the skid for the 3 gear buggy sorted out. I ended up needing to flip the axles to passenger side diff, which is fine since it's a wraith style axle. This is mostly for clearance with the rear mounted motor, but also just happened to be where the trans output landed when I got the spur where I wanted it. I should be able to mod the interior cover to clear the trans, and have room to mount the seat. I didn't expect to be able to fly use either of those in the 3 gear buggy.
It looks like it'll be tall enough to clear. The trans was raised up a bit with the angle I added to hit the hole in the motor plate. If it ends up needing it, I should be able to use Cole's wraith trans.

Oh yeah wraith trans is longer. I’ve got a few extended outputs here if ya end up needing one. But no problem on the links, hope they work out.
The 3 gear buggy is coming together nicely. I got the stainless links installed (thanks Marcus). I tossed in a brushed 550 motor as a placeholder and everything clears. I've started on the interior. The rear cover panel needed some work to clear the transmission (pictured), plus a slight adjustment to the dash (on the printer now). I also added a seat mount pedestal to the skid plate so the interior is almost complete.
Dash and interior cover are done. I'm going to cut out rear shock mounts like we used on my buggy. After that it's just a matter of getting back over to the shop for welding the final bits on for both buggies. I've already driven mine, and last night, I put power to the 3 gear rig to make sure it all functions. Everything looks good to go so I'll be printing the final parts.
After a few weeks of delays I finally got back over to the shop to get some welding done. I mainly wanted to get the shock mounts welded onto the 2nd chassis, but i had also trimmed and fitted all the panel mounts for that chassis. We were able to get my buddy's chassis 100% welded up and ready for paint and final assembly.
I'm going to get my panel tabs fitted up this week and we are planning to install those final parts on my chassis next weekend.

Thanks. It is a lot more than I thought going into it. Even with Josh doing the heavy lifting on the design and fixtures, I've probably got over 100hrs into building these 2. That's not including any of the welding that my friend it's doing for me.
Also, update on the picture above. I was told that's been clear coated so it sounds like he's leaving his looking raw. I got the rest of the panel tabs fitted to my cage this afternoon so it's ready for the last bit of welding next weekend.
I got Cole's buggy built up yesterday and I delivered it today. It really came out better than I expected given the mishmash of parts i had to work with. The carbon wheels really pulled the width in to a good place which helped a ton. The panels, interior, motor, etc, all turned out great. This is running a fusion se with the motor cover i made.
Cole took it for a spin through his firewood and was very pleased with the performance. I took a turn a put a nice dent in the roof. Lol

And here's my buggy mostly finished. I just need to give it a final once over and it should be ready to run. Still thinking about a color or wrap I'd like to use on the panels but for now they'll stay raw aluminum.
Build looks great ... I like the raw panels a lot. !!!
