No, tapered pistons are a thing in RC. They are mainly used in racing. I also doubt I'd be able to notice the difference between a taper and squared piston, but apparently some can.

I know what you're saying. I don't understand how the taper would affect anything either. There is some information on this thread:

Well there you go. The guy with the dyno shows no difference.

Thick or thin piston makes a difference, but not directionally. But it pretty much just did the same thing as changing the weight of the oil.

Definitely not at our crawling or trailing speeds. It is fluid dynamics or theoretical.
