Ittybitty's BERG

I hope you get that truck sorted out. that chassis has really caught my eye, and I'm looking into a replacement for the SA.

A machined delrin piston for the scx would be fantastic. That stock piston (if you can even call it a piston) is such a load of crap. Lighter oils make it feel like a friction damper, go thicker to smooth it out and then it has terrible pack.

I feel like the softer springs work better when you're reducing the link separation at the chassis. You links move more freely now so you don't need the stiff springs to overcome the geometry. I'd try mrc and mini t silver. Around here I couldn't get the scx shocks to work worth a darn. I switched back to big bores and I am really happy with pinks up front an reds in the rear. I have not had any lifting issues that youre referring to. When I get home I'll give you those weighs you're after too.

Thanks for the input Kevin. I've got some more springs on the way now.

Harvo...to be honest I don't remember...wish I'd taken some video or made better mental notes. I knew there were several things that were going to be changing before it was really worth getting too involved though. Right now my rig is in pieces again and a few parts have been sent to CBRB for some machining "thumbsup"

Moved rear uppers to the top hole at chassis, middle hole at axle. Front uppers to lowest at chassis. Swapped to MRC silver springs all around AND removed ALL of the knuckle weight...

It works...gonna get it on some more rock this weekend but it seems promising .

Thanks to klabeaume I was too curious not to try making my own skins using the xxxMain lexan glue. The first set I made I tried using photo paper, but that didn't work out so well since it can't breathe to let the glue dry completely. This set I cut up some normal paper and sent it through the picture printer. Something changed the color...either the type of paper or the glue on the paper...it came out a little too purple for my tastes, but I like the idea and will keep messing with it.

Here's how the color came out on the picture paper...

Nice rebuild Ryan. I'm honestly surprised you changed with Nationals coming up. We need some video. Guess I may try one of these build threads out.

Thanks Sterling...I'm not worried about making changes...just having fun with it "thumbsup"

I've got some more goodies on the way from Rowdy Racing that should help me keep the knuckle weights off.

Used to love to do the lexan glue stuff. Done a bunch of racing bodies with Hi Res magazine pics(some of the :twisted:pics):ror:. Been a while since I have seen people do this.

It's definitely a different spin on things. I spent some time working on my knuckle weights tonight to give me some better tuning options since I'm pretty sure I won't end up running it without them in the long term. I ended up cutting the base weights down to 26g each and am using a little over half of a 1/4" ring and four 1/8" rings cut in half. This leaves me with weight stacked all the way to the face of the wheel and totals around 2.7oz. I'll get some pics up of this in a little while...

I also spent some time on my steering setup this evening. I found out that the new "bent" tie rod for the XR from VP is a perfect fit. Then I needed to come up with a drag link. Unfortunately I didn't have any more Lunsford links laying around so I grabbed the next thing which was a spare VP Ti drag link for the Wraith. Since it was a little too long I had to put some bends in it, but I actually like how the bends help everything clear.

Nothing exciting, but I also took a little of the bend out of the axle end of the DLux rear lowers to add a bit more wheelbase and to keep the links from hitting so hard before the tires had a chance to get to the rock. With Nationals coming up I was extra careful to keep measuring my wheelbase to avoid any issues at tech.

Looking good Ryan. You have Jato ends on the VP XR tie rod. Does that mean it's a little on the short side? I've been thinking about one but I wasn't sure how it would work. Looks like there is some adjustment room. "thumbsup"

Got sime time on the rocks this morning. I tried a few different setups with the weights, but the way I had it at first was what I settled on. Moved rear uppers around a little but never found a different setup that worked better. Im still getting a little too much traction on the rear tires so Ill have to keep working on that. Im not settling on anything yet since theres still a few more changes to make soon.

I also shot some video while I was out today...just a few short clips...

The cf looks great. That last climb looks like it may have took a couple trys to figure it out but very cool. See you in alabama NEXT MONTH.
