How much BHB?

Got the front and back put together. They feel good. One step closer to tearing this thing up.

Just blew up my front ring and pinion gears...ordered in the HD gears and put it all together and it seems to mesh up perfectly fine, totally smooth. I have no comparison, and want to do this mod if it's necessary, but I just can't see it being any better than it is. It feels the same as the rear, which is still the old gears. Am I missing something?

I guess the Yeti XL forum is dead...I'm too late to the party...

Just wanted to update that I could tell there was just a little 'notchyness' with the HD gears, probably okay, but I did the mod and I can tell it's smoother. I have 3 bearings and 2 shims (may add one more, but it might be too tight).

I don't think I ground them all the way down to a 90* angle, which is why I can only fit 2 shims, but I did grind off the little lip and everything seems good to go.

It’s definitely important to grind back to the 90* I’ve done the same thing and having the bearing tight to the back of the teeth is crucial. It should eliminate any and all notchiness "thumbsup"

Not dead just not as alive as we wish.
I also did the bhb pinion mods and on 6s they still look new.

Those that have done this are still using the plastic housing? ( My housing is finished, looks like the pinion bearings spun and melted the housing) so just wondering if it would be worth to just go aluminum and if so which one?)

Hot Racing looks nice and uses larger bearings?
rc4wd looks like a 3rd member set-up

Thoughts?

How is everyone doing? What's up BHB?
I just finished tearing down the front & rear bevel gear sets, replaced the bearings, but I'm still using the dhawk spacer that I bought years ago, and my shims are on either side of the spacer (4 total), none by the c-clip. I was going to add the 3rd bearing but I decided to put it back the way it's been for years. I did, however, cap the rear to prevent dirt from getting in the housing. First time trying it, curious to see how well it does.
