Evil's Rockshow SS Build...taking my berg to the next level.

Just got home from Battlegrounds a couple hours ago. I have a couple things that I need to tune just a bit. Overall, I was very happy with the performance of this new build. I was able to easily crawl things that I couldn't even consider doing last year. Also, the truck looked great! Even if my driving was only enough for a mid-pack finish, the truck looked like a top-level rig thanks to Michelle and the great new skins.

I'll have some pics as they're posted up on the Battlegrounds forum.

Good job driving this weekend Carey. It was good seeing you guys again.

You, too, Andy. Congrats on taking 3rd! Harvo and Pdog really drove their asses off. It was cool to see you and Josh in the finals and so many T1e's doing so well.

Mike really outdid himself on this chassis.

I'm going to have to check the NCRC comp schedule. I'm going to try to make it to Charlotte toward the end of June.

Wow, now that is one of the best compliments I have ever received 8)
Great driving and I really hope you had fun because that is all that matters "thumbsup"

I've made several changes since my last update.

I now have 2 sets of wheels & tires that I alternate between.

Set 1: Narrowed Sedonas w/ the inside sidewalls shaved on the front tires, mounted on VP SLW V4's.

Set 2: Trimmed Boss Claws w/ the inside sidewalls shaved on the front tires, mounted on VP SLW V2's.

I've also changed the shocks out to ProLine scaler shocks with blue Mini-T springs.

With the tires and shocks, I now get full steering without any contact of the tires on the shocks or links.

Electronics updates:

The other thing that I've done is re-work my electronics.

First, I picked up a set of Brood motors. They're the Creep, 4 magnet cans with HHK-t arms (9mm comm, 3 segment, epoxy balanced). Then, I mounted some homemade motor protectors. The rear is made from a prescription pill bottle, and the front is from a childs bubble bottle.

I aquired a pair of CC Mamba Micro Pros. I wanted to see how small and light I could mount them, so first thing to do was uncase them.

I was curious how much lighter they are:

After looking closely, I noticed that if I move the capacitor, they will clamshell nicely for a very small footprint.

I also unwrapped a new CC BEC, set it at 8 1/2 volt and attached it to the side of the ESC's.

Weight of 2 ESC's and a BEC (I still have to heat shrink them).

Mounted on the skid. (I have a smaller RX that I haven't put on yet).

Temporarily mounted with black heat shrink...I have clear heat shrink to use once I rewire with 20ga.

Here's the new Gens Ace battery on the bigron's mount.

I'm now sitting right at 5.6lb rtr. I still have to mount the smaller receiver and I'm also weighting on my Clover tubes. Between that and my lightened gears, etc, I should finally reach my goal of getting it under 5 1/2 lb. "thumbsup"

Have you been running that BEC at 8.5v for long?

I was considering running mine up that high, I have my mini running straight off a 2s lipo so I suppose it runs that high off a fresh pack. I just dont want servo problems.

I haven't, but a couple guys in our club (Stick King is one of them) have been running all of their 2.2 and Super's servos at 9v for over a year now and claim less issues than before.

Got the front CCD tubes installed with VP 8* C-Hubs & knuckles. I clocked the gear case and added more caster.

Here's some pics with my temporary steering setup (the steering will be improved before it hits the rocks.

Its hard to tell, but if you look hard, you can see how much caster I'm running.

Looks good...I might have to give that a whirl and see what I think. Let us know how it works out for you.

looks good, but it acts the same way my XR parts do, the inner always has more caster than the outer at full lock, it takes some getting used to,but its definitely an advantage. it should "hook" itself up on some tougher breakovers that were more challenging before. "thumbsup"

Nice XR steering setup. I just made the swap to XR steering goodies last night. I put it on the rocks in the dark for 20 seconds and could immediately tell the difference in steering geometry.
