My goal with this build was to get my berg to the same level of competitiveness as my 1.9. Even though I've been successful locally with my T1e Moon Buggy, I've found that I simply was unable to pull off some of the lines that some of the newer rigs were able to do (let's forget that these were some incredibly good drivers behind the controller). After winning 1.9 at ECC in April, I decided to attempt to take my 2.2 to the top level with the best parts I could afford.

So, Here's a spec list of what I hope to achieve:

Completed:
- RC Axlemaster rear axle shafts
- berg/axial Super300 front axle shafts
- VP 0-ackerman Axial knuckles
- VP SLW V4 wheels
- Narrowed HB Sedonas
- Crawler InNOVAtions dual stage foams
- Lunsford Ti upper links
- Big Ron battery mount
- Gens Ace 450mah 3s batteries
- T1e Rockshow SS chassis
- D-Lux knuckle weights
- Hitec 7950 servo
- 2 team Brood matched 35t motors (Creep Cans w/ HHK-T arm)
- 2 CC Mamba Micro Pro ESCs (uncased and clamb-shelled)
- Futaba FASST rx
- Castle BEC
- custom Krawler Konceptz skins

...new & ready to go on (as soon as the CCD tubes get here):
- all new Boca and Avid bearings for berg
- used set of berg gear cases
- RCBros 4th gear lockers
- Mann heavy duty 2nd and 3rd gears

...ordered and on the way:
- CCD front and rear berg axle tubes w/ 86Jeep style steering

...haven't yet pulled the trigger, but soon will:
- VP 8 degree C-Hubs and Knuckles
- VP Knuckle weights
- RCBros gear machining

Here's some pics of it (beside my MRC & 4PK) with the new skins from Krawler Konceptz.

Nice list of parts, dont now if my ss rebuild will be quite that extensive lol

Where were you having trouble with your old setup? My 1st gen buggy is running better then any rig i have ever built. I'm hesitant to even switch chassis, but the reviews on the ss being so much better swayed me.

Looks great can't wait to see it in action this weekend"thumbsup" Looks like ya got a screw loose also

ya i like my buggy as well thats why i had mike give me a new look with old buggy chasis lol

There's just some subtle differences in this setup that make it just a hair more stable. At the level of competition, though, that we're seeing in the 2.2 class at the big events, every little bit helps.

Also, have the upper links outboarded and moving the battery to the axle has free'd up room to mount my electronics even lower and more cleanly than before. Between the entire rig being lighter and the different driving feel of the knuckle weights, I can now pull the same climbs with less overall weight on the wheels. The entire rig feels much more nimble. I'm not able to slow crawl things that I used to have to hop and bounce to fight my way up. I'm now, also, able to hop gaps that just weren't doable with my old setup. I can't wait to see how much better it handles once I can get the axles finished with the HD and the lighter gears and the CCD tubes.
Plus, the thing just plain looks better.

Do yourself a favor and ditch that servo arm for a real one.

It's funny that you say that. I've tried 3 different "real" servo arms now, and the one that's on it is my backup. Every one of the clamping servo arms that I've tried has stripped out on me after a couple comps. I'll be trying another one this weekend. Hopefully it lasts longer than the others.

SS Chassis

You have an impressive build started. Almost a Twin to mine.

Just wondering who narrowed the Sedonas? I have been thinking that they would work much better narrowed.

Thanks.

I narrowed them myself. For the 2.2, I just think that the Sedonas are excessively wide. By narrowing them, I now have full steering without the tires binding on everything. I've honestly not noticed any loss of traction, either. "thumbsup"

How hard was it to do?? I have all the CA that Crawler Innovation uses on their custom tires. You will really like the CCD tubes

If you have experience gluing tires, they're not bad. The key is to get a very straight cut and then glue in very small amounts at a time. Oh, and try not to glue your fingers to the tire.

limited experience gluing tires. Just one more question, how much did you cut and did you make 2 cuts?

I cut out the entire center gap that's between every other row of tread.

Did you use the same uppers as on your moonbuggy, or did you make some new ones?

New. Mine are longer than I wanted. Most guys are using 4 1/2" front and 5" rear upper links.

Cool, have you tried any other upper link locations yet, do you like your current set-up?

Honestly, I don't have enough time on it yet to have messed with it too much. I've basically run 3 courses at our local comp last Sunday and 4 battery packs through it during practice sessions.

So far, I like it much better than my previous setup. It's more stable all around.
