Wanted to play around a little this winter, and came across a good deal on a couple maxstone 8's

I then proceded to turn the two rigs into a nice parts pile...

The body i'm using on this hasn't arrived yet, but it's a turtleback h1 33" x 14".
The first thing I notice is these axle's aren't as wide as i would like...

I don't like to use any kind of extenders on the hubs due to the increased load and tire swing, so i decided to take the longer axle tubes from the extra 2 axles and replace the short tubes on the axles i am using. as a bonus, this would give me dual servo mounts. It would end up being a !.5" stretch.
First step.. Strip the axles down...

The inner ends of the long and short axles are different, so i cut them both off and welded the long ends on the long axle shafts, and mounted the second servo mount to the axle. I also hac to swap the c's with the ones from the short tubes to get the angle right.
ended up with this...

Much Better!!!

I will add a longer crossbar for the steering when i can pick up som aluminum rod... Next step, repeat for the rear!
Also have to figure out the duals... after some thought, i decided to use 6-32 x.25 standoffs and screws in conjuntion with the beadlock rings.

And you end up with this... 28" wheelbase, 16 3/4 wide in front, 23 3/4 in the back

I threw a chassis on it and gave it a try, the servos in front weren't linked together yet but it steered ok for a trial run...
here's the youtube vid of it...

Still trying to come up with a good name for this project if anyone has any suggestions...

The plans are an outcry dual esc, dual 3s 5400 lipos, a 2s 5800 lipo for winch/ lights, some 55t tekin motors, high torque waterproof servos, full lighting, and a custom servo winch. the chassis and links are to get all my measurements and geometry nailed down, then i will have some cut from carbon fiber.

i agree, but i can always make that change later. for now i'm curious how far i can push this relatively inexpensive stuff... i'll build up some metal standard axles while i run it on these.. will still run the dual motors when i swap to a center mount trans, so not spending any money on stuff i won't be able to use later...

Holy fawk  that thing is huge!

I think your gonna have to put a power wheels body on it or a smart car...shoud be a perfect fit "thumbsup"

Is there any down side to running without a Conner linkage? I was going to make a longer one to match the widened axles but after running it a bit I don't seem to need one... Any thoughts?

And small update.. Picked up an outcry dual esc, 2 rc4wd 55t crawler motors, some 12ga silicone wire, a venom 3s lipo, and am hoping to get my body delivered tomorrow or Monday...

Got the body in... Still a long way to go but man it looks cool.. I am thinking of going with the rc4wd 1/5 scale yota axles, but I also have a savage xl I could steal the independent suspension off of which would look more scale... Any thoughts?

I guess independant would look more scale to the real thing, but man.... those axles sure would look cool"thumbsup"

thoughts..... it's fawking huge..

An IFS front with a 1/5th yota rear... that would be the cats meow if they were the same width. you would need one tough trans to be able to contain the power needed to move this beast, probably an E maxx trans with the gorilla max gear set it's expensive but I've heard its indestructable.

Pair that combo with a twin HH puller combo or better yet twin mamba monsters on 6s lipo that hummer will be flying like Tim cameron

that looks sweet. if you are going to stick with a brushed setup, run DeWalt 820 14.4v motors or traxxas titan 775's.
