Do we have an "Awesome" thread yet?

I live in the sticks so it takes 15 minutes to find the first redlight. And that’s where two highways intersect. So unless either of there can do 70-80mph I’m out.

On the other hand. Should I be a city dweller, or perhaps a little closer, then I could see having one. Dual sports or Harleys are what the ‘norm’ is locally. Tossed in with a handful of crotchrockets.

^^^ Or the Suzuki VanVan 200, same price as the DR200S... like that retro fat rear tire!

Or I could throw a third of the cost to new tires, battery, chain, gas tank, and carb rebuild and have my damn 2000 SV650 up and runnin'... (sigh)

Back in the 70's, when the Honda ATC's were becoming popular, Suzuki came out with it's 2 wheeled RV90 & 125's. Easy to handle, street legal, only thing I didn't like was that it was a 2 stroke. I didn't have one, but a couple friends did, and it was a blast to ride.

This is not the actual friends' ride, but an image I grabbed from the net.

Personally id put the $$ SV650. Rode one (real one not that stupid gladius thing) a few years ago for a very short bit and really really liked it. Had my stupid Harley at the time otherwise i bet id still have it if i bought one then.

Which "stupid Harley" did you have Mike?

Personally I like Sportsters. My first Harley was a '74 Sportster, right foot shifter (nice because my 2 '68 Triumphs were right foot shifters), also had a '72 and a 2004. I was skinny when I had the '74 while stationed in Hawaii.

After I got out, had the '72 in Cali, and bought the 2004 new after I was married. Somewhere after Hawaii, I had a '76 Superglide, ya it was transportation, but I was never really happy with it. My bro's in Cali and at home use to ball bust me that I looked like them fat twins on the Honda mini-bikes while riding on a Sportster, LOL, I guess you younger guys won't know what I'm talking about.

However, I was never THAT fat

At the time i rode the SV650 i had my 02' Deuce. Before that was my Dyna FXDX. Nothing wrong with Harleys but the whole concept is kinda Stupid IMO. $15-20k for a bike and another $5k for bolt on crap to sound and look cool. They reeled me in for sure but what terrible bikes. No power and handled like poop.

I remember those big guys. Funny to watch them ride those suckers.

What is the function of the 4 levers that the navigator is pulling?, nevermind, they said the co-driver operates the independent brakes

My first SV650, a 2001 "S" model, Yoshimura Titanium exhaust, jet kit...

I seriously loved this bike:

^^^ One of these days I've got to set up my scanner and dig out my shoebox of old photographs going back through the years... post up some serious retro stuff.

My friends and I did that exact thing on our bikes back in the day!

That shot sure brings back fond memories.

My right hand dashcam captured a few oldies yesterday, funny thing is the car i saw that in the exact same place a little over a month ago.

The 2 wheelers ( both Indians i think ) i have never seen, but i dig them and their period plates.

Both those are ones you pull over to take a long look at.

But..........I am more curious as to WTF that sign says? Is that like fish and chips or something?
