Delaware chatter

Scored another toy today, but here is the funny part. It used to be mine! Some time ago I sold a Losi MRC; here is the pic that I used for the CL ad.

So anyway, I go into Speedwerks the other day and one of the guys says he has a LMRC for sale. I ask him to bring it in and I will check it out. Here is what I saw when I went back to look at it. As soon as I saw the yellow body and Integy lower links, I knew it was my old one.

It is a bit worse for wear, but is back in my garage. A lil work needs done and it meeds a motor, but other than that she should be good to go. It had a BL system in it, but it turns out that someone between me and the guy I bought it off of put a 9700KV BL system in it. No wonder it was going into thermal shut down almost immediately! For now, it will get a stock brushed unit installed. Might go scale with it eventually.

I had planned to run both the AX-10 and the MRC out at Woodland Beach today, but a late night soldering job gone wrong (reverse polarity) killed the MRC esc. Even so, a good day was had with the AX-10. Seeing as I needed a new esc, I am going BL with both trucks via some equipment from Hobbypartz.com

As a bonus, I tested Traxxas' claim of my MERV being waterproof by plunging (accidentally) into the surf. It is waterproof!

The Axial went brushless today thanks to a Hobbywing system. I had also planned to go BL with the LMRC as I have a Losi Exceleron ESC, but needed a motor. i ordered a motor (3600kv) from Hobbypartz when I ordered the system for the AX-10, but it turns out that the motor has a bearinf flsnge that sticks out and will not mount to the LMRC motor mount so it is going back to Hobbypartz.

Well, WB was only a partial success. The Axial does much better with a front axle battery mount, but a snapped rear drive shaft yoke and swarming gnats (as soon as the sun peeked out ) ended the day in a hurry.

Provided my parts come in, I would like to set up a run at PM next week. Upgraded to 3S and want to see how she does now!

Some feedback on the Hobbywing EZRUN 35A Crawler System, after some play time.

The drag brake is not the best. I can live with that; I do not comp. Aside from a week drag brake, the unit performs very well. The ESC cooling fan is not needed as the motor never taxes the ESC - even on 3S. That said, even though the motor is not a true 540 (a 380 core I believe), it has plenty of power and cogging is basically non-existant. the only time I saw any cogging at tall was a momentary shudder at just off neutral throttle on a steep incline. That was it.
Power? Plenty on both 2S and 3S. Infact, it was enough to spin a hex in a wheel when I got it in a bind.
Overall, it seems to be a good, inexpensive system. It is not a comp system because of the drag brake issues. However, it is a good upgrade from a brushed system for those of us that only "play" with our RCs. Last time I checked, there are no points deduction for using reverse or back-sliding when you are just out for fun.

Like am idiot, I left the good camera at home so a camera pic will hav eto do.

Lipo / brushless power and an open skatepark. You do the math. Strangely enough, no parts were broken.
