Cultus' Axial YETI build

sick build man, I noticed VP put the centre pumpkin curries up forsale yesterday but they were sold out pretty quick, especially grey. What compound U4s are those?

Thanks bud, these are the silver compound with CI Deuces Wild tall foams, tho i found them a touch too tall, so i trimmed the ribbing off the foams and they fit perfectly.

Ya those new curries look awesome, i suspect they will be hard to keep in stock anywhere.

More parts for the rear end"thumbsup" Finally getting the MIP driveshaft and HD bevel gears, and while I'm at it, installing a HR locker and oillite bushing plus some axial link mounts and sway bar mounts.

Nice add-ons!

I've been looking into the bearing-thrust bearing-bushing choice and can't seem to find definitive answer. What led you to the bushing choice?

Thanks

Hey thanks! I can't recall where exactly but Harley was using it on a wraith. Seemed simple, inexpensive, and made sense so i thought i was give it a try.

Yea I remember Harley saying about using the bushings a while back.. I can't remember why to use those over bearings? Lol by the way, sweet build"thumbsup" fixing to get my yeti build on the way also. Really an inspiration

Thanks bud, i appreciate it. Well with these kind of high power systems, that one bearing is the most likely to fail, and i think they were changing it out on a weekly basis. The bushing increases reliability with a very minor increase in friction. As mentioned other options people are using is a thrust bearing or modifying the housing to use a slightly larger and more durable bearing. DLUX fab offers modified housings with a 5x13 bearing installed for $20

Cultus,

I ordered up a pack of the bushings you listed (TRA1547) - but then realized that they are flanged (top hat) bushings, not the typical style that seems to be used in these axles most often. Can you tell me how you ended up with this choice? Do they need any modification to fit the axle? Does it effect gear mesh?

Thanks for all the help.

Ahh crap dude, i am so sorry, i gave you the wrong part number. I am not sure how, but i had the wrong number wrote down and never bothered to go check the package. TRA1675 is the correct number and what i used.

A couple more upgrades for the rear end, Axial's diff cover and VP lockouts. Very nice stuff and fits perfectly. Now i just need to save my pennies to get the VP axle housing and truss"thumbsup" It does suck that VP only sells the truss as a pair including the front.

This thing is getting more and more bad ass by the minute!

I think this would be the kind of thing Vanquish would take into consideration of enough people piped up about it. The Yeti is the most popular seller in a while, and it might be in their best interest to split some packs to keep the masses happy....and away from STRC :)

Thanks bud, and i couldn't agree more! They could just manufacture some rear only ones and while they are at it, anodize a few in blue! "thumbsup"

New shocks are installed! Full set if ICONs, nice and smooth and do include the aluminum caps when you buy them separately.

Gonna try them with this setup to start:
FRONT: 42.5 wt Yellow 4.33lb/in spring
REARS: 20 wt for both and Red 1.32lb/in spring

And if anyone wants some good tip building these shocks check out Axials blog post here:

Shock Building Tips

started wiring up some LEDs. Picked up a gear head roof rack, which is a very slick looking part and has a nice mount for an light bar, but i did swap out the plastic standoff for axial 5mm spacers. I am using a light bar from the spare parts bag of a C/R edition SCX10, but had to fab up some simple brackets for it, and i am wiring up the LEDs myself. it was pretty tight soldering up 8 LEDs that close together with resistors, so had to use liquid tape instead of heatshrink, but it worked well. I also wired up the stock rear light bar KOH style, then put 2 whites in the headlight buckets and 2 blues on the front bumper.

Nice job on the lights and Icon shocks "thumbsup"

Now that you have a little weight on the rig try a 14x70 spring up front, gives you some adjustment back in the preload collar and allows the front end to sit up a little higher.

That is exactly what I did. Brandon is 100% right on the money with the ability to adjust those.
