I have had my Yeti for 2 months now and I have thoroughly enjoyed it in its mostly stock form. I am not a racer, in fact this is my first go fast rig in quite some time. I have been lucky enough not to break anything so far, but winter is here and its time for some upgrades, so I thought I would start a build thread.

Here she is posing with my Dingo when I first got her.


One of my first upgrades was wheels, I love the modular scale look of VP's OMF's but they are notoriously difficult to mount when using a large closed cell foam like the Crawler innovations. So I took some scrap plywood and a 3" hole saw and made this little jig that made installation a breeze.

I am still waiting on some parts to arrive before I tear into this thing so I did a little painting to improve the scale appearance. Starting with the fuel cell, extinguisher, and radiator. To mount the rad, I cut off the 2 light bucket mounts on the rear bar and drilled a hole through that bar, then just screwed right into the stock mounts on the bottom of the rad.



Then I went to work on the interior. Had to get a new driver and navigator. Meet Eddy and Freddy.

I made them from the stock skull heads and a little craft fur and googly eyes, lol.

Did some work on the rear end. Changed out the rear springs to the slightly stiffer reds and 30wt oil and changed out the sway bar links with some 30mm Axial posts with rod ends. Then upgraded the rear upper links and trailing arms with some beautiful offerings from Vanquish Products and swapped out the 4 link and upper shock mounts with Axial's anodized parts and blinged it up a bit with Hot Racings aluminum blue balls! Still haven't changed the axle housing because I am waiting for VP to release there center pumpkin Currie.

i hate my stock upper shock mounts. Too flexy. Wish Axial would make them in a different color. May go with STRC. I'm an orange freak but will have to do with Blue for now.

Thanks I appreciate that, it was done with a small brush with very little paint on it, just a touch is enough to color the bolts.

Hot Racing has a nice option too, although its also blue HERE

Time to tear apart the front end and install a few upgrades from Axial, Vanquish, and STRC (although I wish VP would make some c-hubs for the yeti)




While I had it apart I decided to swap out the plastic nuts for the inner hinge screw to metal locking nuts.



Also in anticipation of the 2 speed upgrade, I ran some extentions from my 3rd and 4th channels out of the receiver box. The BEC fits nicely inside the box but it was challenging running 4 sets of wire and the BEC power wires, but I think I made it work with a bit of grease to keep the silicone sealed.

Finally sprayed the bodyshell and installed some vinyl graphics. Still have lots of goodies from xmas plus some after xmas orders are on the way! Cant wait to install the new stuff but for now here is the body, done in candy blue.

More parts installed! 60T metal spur and anodized slipper plates, then i pulled apart the front diff and installed HD bevel gears, and some 500k traxxas diff fluid to stiffen things up. And while i had it apart i replaced the inside bearing on the outdrive with an oilite bushing for durability.
