dumb question...on the RC4wd shocks you got, where did you get the softer shock springs?? I know you didn't mention it in this thread - but its more current then the your cherokee thread

I know you made your own - but did you buy softer ones? the ones that mine came with are like rocks

Sorry, I don't think I mentioned about the softer springs in either build thread.

The Scale 100mm White Shocks with Internal Springs from RC4WD were Way too stiff with the stock springs. They had a 50% softer spring that you could buy (to fix there problem for them) and then they worked great.
Unfortunately the soft springs are discontinued and the shocks will be soon too, but no worries, they have a better one now, it's more scale and already has a soft spring, its called "The Ultimate Scale Shocks", they come in different lengths and a couple colors. I have some already that I'm using on my Grand Cherokee build and I like them. Just remember though, like the discontinued ones, they don't use oil. (except for a few drops to keep them from wearing)

Great build but the only jeeps that were 6 lug were the grand wagoneers and stuff. Unless the 6 lug was intentinal...?

The pictures of the truck with the stock Cherokee "Limited" gold mesh wheels are 5 lug. The RC4WD 1.55 Stamped Steel Wheels only come in 6 lug so I'm limited to what is out there. Aside from you keen eye, I don't think most people will even notice or mind the extra lug. Good call though.

The new "ultimate scale shocks" seem to have the perfect spring in there already. Oil can only dampen the movement, you would need a stiffer spring to make the shocks stiffer but unless you have a heavy truck or big weighted tires I think they should be fine the way they are.

I got them from RC4WD but they discontinued them. They don't even list them on the web site any more. Also they only had softer ones for the 100mm shock but not the other lengths. Strange, I know. I'm sure you don't want to have to buy another set of shocks when you already spent the money on those, but the "Ultimate Scale Shocks" that I mentioned above work perfect.

The part number for the springs is Z-S0572. You might be able to find some on one of their RC4WD sites in Europe, Google "Z-S0572 springs" .
You might need to shorten them for the shorter length shocks. In the end it might be easier to get the new "Ultimate Scale Shocks".

One more note, I did like that the old "Scale" shocks came in white too. I was bummed to see the new "Ultimate Scale Shocks" don't have enough color choices.

He's Gale from Hunger Games.
Only Jeep floorpans and they're discontinued.
Many people make there own wheel wells and floors out of styreen etc.

Ok so I read this while post and the one on the link in the first post, maybe I missed it but how did you get the tired to fit under the body like that? It looks great. Did you narrow the stock axles or are they aftermarket? If they are aftermarket, what ones did you use? Again sorry if you posted about the axles already and I missed it

No problem, I really never mentioned the axle length.

I used the stock axles, the way it fits is using scale size tires and wheels (1.55's).
You don't need to do any mods at all.
Using realistic scale size 1.55 tires and wheels makes the truck look very scale.
That's why they call them scalers, they resemble the look of the full scale truck. It's sort of the opposite of bolting a huge set of 2.2 tires and wheels and hacking the fenders up to fit them, two different styles.

Wow that really surprises me, I thought for sure you had either narrowed the stock axles or used aftermarket axles. That makes me really happy that you didn't, I have two scx10's and want to make one a scaler to use as a tow rig for my crawler. Thanks for the info

These are the tires and wheels I'm using now. (same as the Cherokee.)
Mud Thrasher tires
White Stamped Steel Wheels
They fit without rubbing, even with the low ride height I'm using.

If you run the truck at the top of the shock travel you can probably run these larger
Mud Slingers without rubbing.
