Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

Has anyone tried, or have any thoughts on this motor?
Tacon 3650-540-10.5T Sensored Brushless Motor 10.5Turn for 1/10 Car Trucks

The specs say it’s a 3-pole motor, not sure if that’s bologna or not but if it is a 3-pole motor, would it be able to power a Wraith*
• It’s actually going into my daughter’s Slash 4x4 set up as a trail truck – a la Chimera A. I was flabbergasted at how well the Slash 4x4 did in the trails when set up to ‘crawl’ (locked diffs, 1200kV brushless non-sensored, small pinion). It’s about the same weight as my Wraith, and it’s for trailing so that’s why I’m asking here 
My other choice would be the Hobbywing 3656 3400kV 4-pole sensored, but if this would work, at 2/5 the cost, it could be a no brainer.
I apologize if this is too tangential.
Thanks

You can look at the watts to roughly compare power. That's a 380w motor, your other choice, a 3656sd is a 1500w motor. Two completely different beasts.

3-Pole? How would that work? You'd have two north or south poles adjacent and therefore it'd become a 2-pole with 3/4 of the rotor either north or south and the remaining 1/4 or the rotor the opposite. I'd buy the hobbywing, or at least from a manufacturer/distributor who actually gives a shit about correct specs being provided.

Agreed, can't see how a 3 pole is possible. Gotta be a misprint, and I'm assuming it's a 2 pole since they list it as a 10.5t. If it was a 10.5t 4 pole that would be an odd motor!

I would assume that is the chinglish for 3 phase, which all of our brushless motors are.

Thought I would throw my stuff in the mix. Castle Mamba Monster, Castle 1410 4-pole 4600Kv running on 3s. My Wraith is about 8-9lbs spur is 88t Robinson steel (AX10), 18t pinion and under-drive gearing in the axles with Vanquish lockers. I did this set up for a number of reasons, first I wanted a water-proof system, second I didn't want to be stuck with only running a 2s battery, third I didn't want to have a sensored system that could/would fail at some point and finally like most of you I wanted more speed but still be able to crawl. I don't have any cogging issues at all when crawling with plenty of drag brake (I took first place in the 2.2 class at my last crawling event) and this set up is faster than the truck needs to be. Absolutely perfect for G6 events.

I use a 3400kv so out of those two choices I would go with the 3100kv.

First post, I'll try not to look like a moron.

I'm brand new into rc so I have no baseline to compare it to except for the axial brand motors I originally ordered for my wraith. I've ran 20t, 27t, and 55t.

I'm trying to build a crawler/basher and am unhappy with the power/speed I'm getting on 3s with the axial brand motors.

I'm sure that I can get better power out of a high-end, brushed motor, but I think I want to go ahead and go brushless right from the start.

That said, what type of low end control should I expect to see with the 3100kv ROC? I'm buildng a crawler/basher and see Harley as well as many others recommending this motor but I can't seem to find vids of people driving slow with them...

Thanks,

hey just looking for your personal opinion on this set up for my wraith
looking for speed and moderate crawling nothing to insane;
-cc sv3
-cc 4600kv
-novak BEC
-2s 4000mah
-Savox 1257tg
-all steel trans and driveline minus the spur.

Any opinions on my setup, it weighs just over 8lbs. It's a 50/50 trail/crawl
CC SV2
Tamiya dirt tuned 27t
2s 5000mah
Hitech hs645mg
Deadpool in driver's seat

chisels and junfac xd piggybacks are next

That would be terrible. This thread will tell you over and over what you need and that's sure as hell not a 4600kv sensorless.

Well unfortunately I don't have a huge budget for rc and at 120$ with the USB I figured worst case I throw in my brushed tekin 35t hd but will loose a lot of my wheel speed if I do this...thanks for your input though...no why is the 4600kv motor terrible for wraith?

the issue with that motor is that its sensorless. if you plan on crawling it will cog like no tomorrow and make life very unpleasant and you will end up buying another motor anyway. if you plan on all out bashing then that motor will work fine.
