Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

Looking for some advice!
HH CrawlMaster 12t
HH BRXL
2400mah 25C LiPo

What is a good crawler gearing in 32p? And a good place to buy? I want a good low gearing for crawling and maybe only a bit for trail, but nothing crazy. Harley recommended 14/56 but cannot find that and it still seams a bit high.

Ok i'm so confused haha i have a Wraith and i managed to destroy my Tekin 45t on my com lathe, i have a Tekin 35t and was wondering what gearing to run. i have the standard spur on there and i run 3s thought a HPI Vapor esc, i mainly crawl and do alot of water crossing
any help would be great

Posted this question on my build thread, but probably get a quicker/better response in here!

Following my first outdoors run:

I'd like her to go a little bit faster. I think she's doing about 10mph flat out.

Would it be better to go from 56/14 to 16 (1/8th increase in speed, ie 12mph-ish) or down a few turns on the motor (currently 27) - I've sorta got my eye on this 23x2 motor? The double turns should put back some of the torque I'd be losing. Or do both?

(I'm tempted to pick up the 23x2 anyway just to see how it goes. I've got a 12 pinion around if it's too much ;-) ).

currntly running a tamiya bz motor and ae2 esc on 2s lipo and wraith mainly used for a bit off crawling but a bit off bashing in the woods
motor gets very hot with stock gearing what could you reccomend i change gearing tooo

this is such a newb question but it needs to be asked because I never wanted to mess with it, but what is the best gearing, spur and pinion, for a wraith with a 27t motor?

More torque/less speed = smaller pinion. Less torque/more speed = bigger pinion. Just like a bicycle where the pinion is where the power goes in, the pedals/cranks/front chainring/sprockets. If you shift to the smaller chainring, it's easier to pedal, you stay cooler, but you go slower. Spend $20 on a variety of pinions and just try them out. Use the 5 second rule for engine temps.

Does anyone know the amount of Turns in the KV rating for the Tekin Roc 412?
3100kv = ?Turns
2300kv = ?Turns
1800kv = ?Turns
1200kv = ?Turns

Sorry for the noob question, I've been searching but couldn't find an answer.
I want to put one in my wraith...

Please help, Thank you.

Wow this is a TON of info.
I am thinking of running the Holmes 13t Crawl.Master & waterproof ESC in the wraith or SCX. I plan to do quite a bit of hill climbing on dirt/leaves in the woods. Will this be enough wheel speed to clean out the 2.2 Boggers?
Also is the ax2 tranny a good investment for the scx with this combo?

What about xerun 120A Sd v2.1 ... 10.5T combo? It much more cheaper...and if it a good combo..mwhat gearing setup that good for mostly bashing....n somethime need to crawl with a frens?

10.5T will be way too fast for any crawling. I’ve got a 3400kV 4-pole and would say that it’s aaaaalmost perfect. Personally, I would prefer a +/- 3000kV ideally (20 or 21T). Best of both worlds.

Thought I would throw my stuff in the mix. Castle Mamba Monster, Castle 1410 4-pole 4600Kv running on 3s. My Wraith is about 8-9lbs spur is 88t Robinson steel (AX10), 18t pinion and under-drive gearing in the axles with Vanquish lockers. I did this set up for a number of reasons, first I wanted a water-proof system, second I didn't want to be stuck with only running a 2s battery, third I didn't want to have a sensored system that could/would fail at some point and finally like most of you I wanted more speed but still be able to crawl. I don't have any cogging issues at all when crawling with plenty of drag brake (I took first place in the 2.2 class at my last crawling event) and this set up is faster than the truck needs to be. Absolutely perfect for G6 events.

Mike, do you have any video of your wraith running? Slow and fast?? I'd appreciate it if ya did!

Tq for ur respon.... But...something i cannot understand... Tekin redline 13.5T have a 3500kV rating....the xerun 10.5T/S have 3200kV from their sheet list...so...is it something near? Newbie here in term of relation between kV n Turn...

That's one for Harley. There's a few charts out there but a lot of them don't match each other.

Thanx mate....lookin forward to hear from Harley..."thumbsup"... Maybe buy pairing xerun 120A v2.1 with redline 13.5T or 17.5T....:flipoff:
