Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

Agreed. I've gone down to a 1200kV sensorless motor with a 9t pinion 54t spur (in a converted Traxxas Slash 4x4) and it still cogged at ultra slow speeds) The Tacon 3656 4 pole sensored Xerun motor is $90 and it's gotten good reviews. You could try that. Mine just arrived in the mail last night so I get to try it out today! :)

Hey guys I'm looking at picking up a super shafty bomb proof transmission for my Ridgecrest.looks like it comes with a 56t32p spur but I will need to get a pinion gear, would a 12t be a good selection?I will be running a tekin35t motor!!and 3s lipo

Just making sure I get this right before I order a motor. I have a PS Wraith running 2S/3S 3S mostly on the stock ESC. Gearing at the moment is 16/87. Stock motor burned up so I need a new one. Reading the guide, for good crawling and ok speed I should be looking at a Holmes 13t Crawlmaster or Holmes TorqueMaster Expert 540 27t. Looking at what I can buy here in Aus, I can get a CrawlMaster Expert 13T 540 Brushed Motor is this the right one? Should I stick with the gearing I have or go a little faster on the spur?

Other options are a Torquemaster Expert Motor - 35T/27T

The xerun is made by Hobbywing, not Tacon. Tacon is cheap crap. Hobbywing is top shelf.

Oops! I knew that and wrote it down incorrectly. Yes, Hobbywing. But I'll have to disagree with you on the Tacon statement. I've got four of their motors and they've all been incredible.

I guess everyone is entitled to thier own opinion. It can't be denied that Tacon is a company that copies/clones/rips-off other companies. Hobbywing gets cloned/copied/ripped-off.

Anyone in here ever try the dynamite sensored brushless setups?
Wound up cancelling my sv3 after further research and found the dynamite 3782c sensored setup
Anyone got any input or thoughts on this setup Ina wraith? Ran me 100$ on eBay for the 13.5T setup should have decent low end speed and tourque as well as some top end too?

OK, I'm gonna sound really stupid now but be kind... I'm stupid! Lol..

Looking at the gearing way at the top.....

It's suggested I fit a 32P 84/18 set-up.... Can anyone explain the 32P please? I get the 84 spur and 18 pinion part.... Is the 32P the pitch of the fixing holes on the spur???

Also, I'm in the UK and can't seem to find these gears at all??? Anyone got links??? even in the US???

Many thanks....

I don't think anyone would suggest that gearing. A 32p 84t spur would completely cover the front out put on the transmission. Pitch determines the size of the teeth. Its what you guys across the pond call module.

32P 84t is HUGE and I think its suppose to be 48 pitch with an 84t gear.

Here is a technical explanation that even I understood, I think this will cover what you're looking for. Basically, 32pitch gears have larger teeth than 48pitch gear, thus needing LESS teeth to cover the same circumference of a gear of the same size.

What is gear pitch?

Thanks for the quick lesson guys, that clears it up! :y
I did gears at college but that was a long time ago...

My confusion of a 32P gear is from post #4...
So, Now I'm still stuck on my gearing???

I'm fitting a Tekin T35 and FXR esc... Any suggestions???

Every where in that post that pitch isn't specified is referring to 48p. The only mentions of 32p is where it is stated after the tooth count.

Also looking to run the same combo, tekin fxr and 35t pro motor combo with a duratrax 56t 32dp on 3s. What would be a good pinion, 13t?

Cheers 8)

Harley I'm running mmp with the tekin redline gen2. Very new to the rc world. With programming the esc do you have any suggestions? % on brake...etc. I've geared to robinson racing 12/56t 32p, hd axles, vanquish 10 piece link set. I'm running a 2s and was thinking about going to 3s. What benefits would I gain. Sorry for the noob questions
