Choosing a motor and ESC for your Wraith - Gearing Added!

Is there any low-budget sensor combo for crawling and mid speed running?
My car is RTR Axial Wraith.

I really appreciate if someone can help me!

I have not found any good low cost options that are decent at crawling. Most of the issue is usually based around braking and reverse types. The Castle controller is really worth the extra money because a half price controller is usually about worthless :x

Im not hc-crawler dude, so i can use cheap combos too, but that sensor is must, i think?

If someone can link couple of combos, i really appreciate that too! "thumbsup"
My budget is Max.160$

I would honestly go with a Castle Mamba Max Pro. It will run Brushless or Brushed motors as well as Censored or Sensorless. So any motor u really want will work. I run one in my Wraith with a Censored RevTech 21.5 t brushless. Pretty good IMHO. Good luck which ever you choose. Also a great purchase is the Castle Field Link and computer cable so you can dial in the ESC to how you want it. ..lol, also a castle 10amp BEC is a great purchase.

Currently running a 20t Crawlmaster with an FXR on 2s, i have no heating issues whatsoever and like the setup. But could use more wheelspeed

Can i just jump to 3S without changing nothing. I mean heat shouldn't get higher as i will pull less amps with more voltage right? what else can i expect?

Is anyone running a 45t motor? I think its gonna be a little slow for my liking but it came with the fx-r I got so I thought I would throw it in. I looked through the thread but didn't see any recommendations for gearing with a 45t. The stock spur is 80t right? What would be a starting point for the pinion?

Technically that's the case if you were going to drive the same speed. However you aren't. You're going to hammer down. So watch your temps.

Try something in like 84/16 and go from there.

Thecastoebrushless motors are not a great choice unless you only plan on going fast. The stock radio will work just fine with pretty much any ESC. Sounds like your friend messed up somewhere.

Holmes 13T crawlmaster

Need to get better motor for my Wraith, stock don't cut it.They burn up like a piece toast left in toaster to long. I really like what I have seen on CrawlMaster motor's and ESC. I want something that can tear around trails, take few jumps but need it to Crawl well. When I run comp's with the club I run with, there is usually a lot rock crawling involved and sometimes there will be little water to go through also. The 20t is plenty fast enough, I'm not burning up the dirt tracks. I like the idea of brushless though for the reliability and life of the motor. What kind of life could I expect with CrawlMaster 13T, if geared like you mentioned 54/14? Do they heat up quickly if used for much Crawling? I'm not sure I want a setup that I have to work on the motor after every 10-15 packs I burn.

I'd gear it down a bit. I'm using the HH CrawlMaster 16T with 56/12 gears on 3S. That combo doesn't overheat while crawling, but gets up and goes when it needs to. I don't bash with it, so I can't say how it will fare at WOT for long periods.

This may not be the ideal place to ask this question, but here it goes. I read in another thread that a Pro 4 3300 has the same amount of torque as a 35t brushed motor. Just curious if that is the case? I am running a HH Torque Master Pro 25t and was considering a Pro 4 3300. I am more concerned about torque/low end power. Thanks

It has easily double the amount of torque. The low end control is fantastic. I consider it the best choice for the Wraith. You just have to tame your finger down because it will destroy parts.

I'm so confused after reading this entire thread. I just bought a used bone stock Wraith with a 2s 4000 mah stick battery pack. I'm mostly crawling and trail running. If I just change the motor and gearing what should I go with and I want to stay brushed? I have a couple 55 Turn motors laying around but didn't read about anyone going that route. Please help!!!!!

That's covered on the first page. 35t motor, regear, stock ESC.
