Badger's Axial SCX10 Jeep JK w/ VP Currie Rock Axles

Re: Badger's SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with VP Currie Rock Axles

How incredible is this truck!! One thing that's been bugging me about this truck (I haven't seen one in person), Is there a decal over the windshield? It looks terrible in the photos. I suggest taking a sharp xacto and cuting around just inside the black frame, then peeling that sticker off of the windshield. You'll be left with a crystal clear lexan windshield that will look GREAT in those Hi-res photos. I do this to all my bodies that come with windshield stickers, they look silly with a hazy front window.

..sorry, It's been driving me nuts since the truck came out and it really shows in the high res photos. Please, for my sanity, remove the gunk.

Light bar looks great...

Really liking those light bars. Definitely in my list now for my JK :)

Installing some Vanquish VVD's in the front axle and a Quicksand 8274 winch to the front bumper now. Will be taking pics.

Here are all my settings for my Tekin RS w/ ROC 412 motor and my DX3R Pro radio. With these settings I have a ton of low end resolution and predictable control of power with no jumpyness. I think it's about as close as I could get it to react like a BRXL with brushed motor with all the benefits of a brushless setup with tons of power and very fun wheel speed.

So far I'm loving this Tekin RS/ROC 412 setup in my JK. I'll have to mount my Gopro onboard to demonstrate how it works.

How much aversion to water do you have with this setup? Will the RS live without overheating in a sealed project box? Assuming the esc is sealed up, can the 412 handle a dunk?

..with the windshield fixed. J/k i'm done now. I just wanted to also thank you for mounting up the stock hardware around the axles for the rest of us mortals so we know that it can work. It's a little thing, but I think alot of us appreciate it.

From what I've been told, brushless motors do not like water so I did not plan on putting the RS ESC into a water tight box. I'll just make sure the water is no more then axle deep just to be safe.

Haha, that was the first thing I did today, it does look a lot better. "thumbsup" Now if I can get Axial and VP to send me all new rig/parts I'll reshoot all the photos with the clean windshield. :ror:

I appreciate the thanks on that, it is more work to install both sets of parts and take pics but I worth it IMO. "thumbsup"

Well I was all done installing the winch and soldering the connections to the mamba micro ESC and accidentally plugged in the power connection to the motor connection on the mamba micro ESC and as soon as I plugged in the main battery poof, the winch ESC was up in smoke. Need to go down to the LHS to get more small connectors and find another ESC I can use to power the winch.

Awesome pictures badger !!!

Thanks. "thumbsup"

Quicksand winch installed, I sacrificed mounting it a little to far forward so I could get the front bumper installed in the next holes to improve the approach angle a little bit from stock.

This one's for Arctic Fire. :ror: As demanded, I cut out the window sticker leaving just the detailed edges.

The QuickSand winch looks killer  just need to loom that wire so it doesn't stick out. Awesome details on this project. What's next?

Yeah I was thinking about getting a wire loom to protect the wires. Next is VP VVD's for the front axle, Axial HD ring/pinion gears for the rear axle, VP shock hoops, head & tail lights and a license plate.

Looks good John. But you need this!
That's perfect, thanks! I was almost going to drill a hole in this one today but I thought I better not get to ghetto on this nice winch. :ror: I sent Quicksand a PM.

I am humbled that my advice could be used on such an EPIC build :) That windshield looks so much better! It now picks up the reflections like a 1:1. It should be no problem to work backwards through the build, disassemble everything and re-take the photos. Better start right away. And hey.. if your giving out free jeeps......"thumbsup"

^ Touche, thank you, cut windshield=good. That bottom picture is great, it's amazing what you can do with parts off the shelf these days.

Re: Badger's SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with VP Currie Rock Axles

How are your run times with the 412 and 2200 lipo?

Re: Badger's SCX10 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with VP Currie Rock Axles

I've got the same ride since one week and I love it.

I see you didn't change the shocks, what oil do you use? mine were way too soft like you can see here in the video Axial Scaler Adventure at Mount.Ymmitos, Athens, Greece - YouTube the video I mounted the battery in the front (Honcho style) and is much better, but I would like to do it like you did. can I see a picture with the battery on, just to have a more clear idea? thanks!"thumbsup"
