My Bomber Build

ready to twist some driveshafts now, in with the Robinson Racing slipper clutch setup and absolute pinion.

I heard of clutch problems with the Robinson metal spur in the yeti / bomber transmission.

I remember reading about using a traxxas slash spring instead of the axial spring.

Did you run into any problem?

Haven't ran it with the Robinson setup. It installed fine and spins freely.
What problems have you heard about?

I can't find the post but it was here.
Something about noise or the clutch slipping even with the spring fully screwed in

oOOOHH, that shore is purty!

(hops over to other thread...)

had a blast with my Bomber this past weekend. Definitely did not have the Robinson racing slipper clutch tight enough. I'm just gonna crank it down.
Didn't break anything, had some good climbs, and a real fun open rocks session at the end. wheels nuts came loose even though I have them blue loc-tited.
Need some front knuckle weights or beef patties to help with crawling balance. Might go ahead and get some DLUX brass knuckles to use until I am ready to toss them on my truggy.

Lack of pictures because I was too busy having fun in the short amount of time I had that day.

Well I ordered 1.9's and beef patties for my Truggy build. They beef patties would not fit the wheels, so my Bomber got them :D

Went crawling Sunday and stripped out the steering servo on the truggy build, so I drove the Bomber the rest of the day. Made it all day and only broke a front end link on the lower on the Bomber.

One of the guys felt bad about my truggy so he got his Bomber out, and basically destroyed it :D by the time we left it had no back wheels.

Finally got sick of bending VVD stub shafts, ordered VXD's, found a set on sale for $96 shipped.
Also ordered a HH BLS 500V2 servo for my Bomber, since my truggy needs a steering servo, I will swap my Savox over to it.

VXD's and HH servo went into the Bomber Saturday night.

I had a near catastrophic issue with the VXD spool mating to the Incision gears.
I had the Incision spool and gears in the axle already and there was no issue.

There is the outer part of the spool that seats down into the gears, and then the inner part that fits into the recess.
This would not fit on the VXD into the gear. I measured the incision spool to be 17mm, and the VXD to be 17,25

I went around it about 4 times with the drum sander, and it fit but rocked just a a little, a 5th pass + a bevel and it was good to go.

Also took this opportunity to swap in the shorter stainless KNK hardware

No to Saturday, yes to E Rock, but it might rain and they are going to move it to Rolla indoors also. I go to a lot of the Sunday crawls with Mid Ozark Scalers group on facebook.

When I was a young-un, I lived in Ft. Leonard Wood - that would have been prime rock-crawlin' territory!

Alas, that was some 35-40yrs ago - I had no R/Cs, just a Schwinn Mag Scrambler that I had endless miles of fun on down by the Big Piney River...

Well as Toadady and I found out, our Bombers weren't too good on the indoor course, not much room to spread the bombers legs, we were chucking rocks off the course LOL!!!
Good times. Had a lot more fun with the truggy.

nice, you going to crawl/trail or race yours?

Crawl/trail.

The group here talked me into 3300 brushless with mamba-x. 8)

I couldn't source a larger spur gear but got a 10 and 11 pinion. Put the 11 in it for starters. I still think it's gonna be too fast on 3s but will give it a shot.

My thread is the ascender/scx10 to bomber. It went from 'trying to decide' to a build thread. ;-)
