My Bomber Build

wheels, tires, and foams came today.

I feel like I ordered the wrong foams for these Pitbull Growlers. It's not like there is a guide on this shit. Buy 5.5" tall tires? Order 5.5" foams.
I feel like the foams are just too big, They are wider than the tire is. Am I expected to cut the outer foam narrower? Is it this way for a reason(support?) first time doing this so, NFC.

2.2 Pitbull Growlers
Crawler Innovations Double Duece medium standard 5.5 and medium comp cut 5.5's for the front

Contact Crawler Innovations if you want the straight scoop, but normally foams are visually bigger than the tires. They compress a lot when installed, and with some break-in time they will get softer.

thanks, basically what I needed to know. I'm pretty sure they are the right foams.

Ok, take a deep breath....all set? Install the outer foam first, then install the inner foam, next take your thumbs and shoe horn the inner foam into place by placing your thumbs inside the tire (one thumb per side), now rotate the tire with you fingers while using your thumbs to separate the two foams while rotating the entire assembly. A couple full rotations of the tire assembly should get you sorted.

OK two updates, let's do this in order.

I took my time and redid my interior, with mask, and Tamiya polycarbonate paint, with a poly matte clear coat. Very happy with the results for what it is.
I still have a second interior coming that I will get one of my airbrush buddies to pimp out for later.

FINALLY feel like my rig is looking scale now.

Second:

Got my VANQUISH Bully's all together with the Pitbull Growlser tires and CI Double Deuce foams. My wheels came with the beadlock rings :D

Man was that a lot of hardware. I think it took 2 hours just to screw the wheels together by hand.

The offset is so much narrower compared to the Pro-Line wheel plus going from .600" hub to a .300.

Went to a hobby store by my sisters house yesterday. They had a full inventory of Vanquish, everything you could imagine. All the axles, upgrades, and lighting.

Couldn't resist a 4" rigid lightbar that was on sale for $40

So I need to get a hardened pinion gear, like from Robinson Racing. But their pinions are 5mm bore, and the Castle website says the slate motors are 1/8"

edit: nevermind I just seen the adapter.

and for what ever reason they make one in 1/8" its just not listed on Robinsons website.

Yeah, it's tricky finding the right pinion from Robinson Racing - they have a couple varieties of hardened steel pinions and some are available in 1/8th shaft, some only in the larger size that requires the adapter.

If you do get the larger bore ones, they have 32 pitch and .8 mod versions, which confused the hell outta me until I found this note on their site:

TECH NOTE: 32 pitch and .8 module gears can be used together with no adverse effects such as increased noise or increased wear. The difference is that .8 module gears have a slightly larger outside diameter per tooth, roughly .00027 of an inch.

I have a question for you.....where did you get the cool cover you have over your servo wires...i like that...thanks 👍hope that makes sence......

I am into PC modding and have some of the stuff from that, it's known as braided sleeving. There are different qualities/densities of sleeve, this was some cheaper stuff I wasn't using, you can still kind of see the wires through it. You can also use 550 cord aka paracord and take the guts out of it and use it as sleeving.

To get it over the cable you have to remove the connector, slide it over, and heatshrink it at both ends to keep it in place.

You can buy it at any of the following websites, I think I used 1/8" sleeving??? PC fan wires are about the same as the servo leads, so that is the size to go with.

If you want to get really high quality stuff, order from MDPC, I used their stuff in my last PC build:

You may have just motivated me to shorten all my servo wires and sleeve them even nicer.

But I noticed one of the beads on my tires has a tear, it has to be from the factory, I haven't even ran it yet other than just testing on carpet. Hell the tires are still sparkly from what ever manufacturing process.

Shoe goo it? Tire Glue it?
Complain to RPP?
If I leave it as is I feel like its just going to continue to rip.

^^^ what he said - people actually create unique tires by cutting up multiple sets and gluing them back together and they hold up just fine.

That's a tiny little tear - CA glue will totally take care of it.
