B-MOW's Element GK-Ecto-Knightrunner Build

Dang, must be a newer color, or maybe different than the 4Runners. Either way I think you nailed it!

Actually it’s older. The Impulse Red Pearl is on my ‘07 Tacoma. I believe the Barcelona Red is the current or most recent red and it took the place of the Impulse Red.

Thanks! I do have to say, in person it looks goood!

Your paint shop did AMAZING!! Love the crisp lines on the window seals and the flares. Really seals the deal!

P.S. Any chance you could give my shop any pointers?

Thanks Phyro!"thumbsup"

So my secret weapon for the crisp, clean lines around the windows and flares is...the outside protective film. The film that new bodies come with on the outside makes for a perfect mask when adding paint details to the outside of the body. I ever so gently cut (with a new X-acto blade) the outside film. Then remove the film and gently press down on the film that is still on the body. I spray a light coat of black to help seal the edges of the film. Then paint a couple more coats of paint and then I spray a couple coats of flat clear to help protect the black paint. Crisp clean lines every time and no paint bleed thru. I've been doing this method for years and it really works great! Most all of my bodies that I have painted in the past few years I've painted them this way.

I'll have more pics and details soon!

One more sneak peak as I'm still getting the body wrapped up!

I'm really happy with how this is turning out!:)

Took off the 3D prints to give them a light sanding and then sprayed them with some Rustoleum 2X flat black paint. Then sprayed them with a flat clear to protect the paint.

On the skid I sprayed it with a slate gray and painted the TRD logo with red paint. Sealed it with flat clear. The slate gray fits the look better than the plastic space gray it was printed in.

Extremely happy with how the grille turned out! I initially printed it in space gray. Threw on some black paint and then hand painted the color stripes and Toyota logo. Couple coats of flat clear to seal it up!

beautiful build B! You might need to baby that one some.

Impulse Red, its a brilliant color. My buddy had a Tacoma in Radiant Red or Rad Red as it was affectionately referred to. I still drive my 08 I have had since new. It’s Black Sand Pearl.

Brian, that front end looks awesome. Every time I see something like this, or makes me want a 3D printer even more (still 90% interested in the Prusa Mini Plus, but I also see Anker has one coming out).

Ooo this thing looks clean! Removing the headlight stickers and having the light buckets makes the front end so much cleaner... I may have to join the club.

Thanks smog!"thumbsup" It'll be babied for sure! Just like my full size Tacoma!:)

The Impulse Red looks awesome in the sunlight. I'm not sure if I have seen the Rad Red, but I bet it looks great too!

Great to hear your '08 is still rollin' on! I think I remember seeing a pic of it in one of your winter pics. My '07 just rolled over 181K and still drives and runs like a new one. Hoping to get another 150K out of it!

Amazing details sir!

I've learned that a 3D printer is a must have for this hobby. Endless possibilities! I've had great luck with my Ender 3 PRO with little to no maintenance needed on it, but I would like to get a Prusa printer someday to try out.

It does change the look of the front end drastically! It looks so much better with the light buckets behind the lexan. Can't wait to get the LED lights installed!

You are welcome to join the club!:)

This is a mighty fine looking Taco "thumbsup"

"thumbsup" Much thanks!"thumbsup"

I have to agree! Seeing Brian’s Tacoma pushed me to grab the body lol. It’ll be on the shelf for a while, but I figured I’d pick on up while in stock.

Thanks SLN!"thumbsup" Yeah, smart to pick one up now! They don't stay in stock long. I should have picked up 2 when I ordered this one!

Incredible build, really interesting read!

I have a stock Knightrunner that I am converting to solid axle on the front and may in time run the rear trailing arms with the anti-sway bar.
You did pop a post up in my thread asking about different wheel combo's, what are the silver 6 flat spoke wheels with the black beadlock rim? They are the best looking wheels i've seen so far.

In case you didn't see it in your thread, here are the wheels that I am currently using.

Just a set of cheapy Amazon Chicom wheels. The fit and finish ain't too bad on these, but I will eventually replace them with a set of VP or SSD wheels.

I bought this style of wheel because it is somewhat similar to the stock wheel on my 1:1 Tacoma.

Been reading through this pretty closely, such a bad ass build! I have a knightrunner and this thread got me looking at sway bar system in the rear. Not something I would have thought about on RC but makes damn good sense with heavy scale bodies.

Beyond that, the build itself is dead sexy!!! Nice work!
