B-MOW's Element GK-Ecto-Knightrunner Build

Been reading through this pretty closely, such a bad ass build! I have a knightrunner and this thread got me looking at sway bar system in the rear. Not something I would have thought about on RC but makes damn good sense with heavy scale bodies.

Beyond that, the build itself is dead sexy!!! Nice work!

Much appreciated tigris!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

Yeah, the sway bars are not something that I've ever tried before and never thought that I would needed them. I've seen quite a few vids with rigs with sway bars and they look to be really capable and stable. Can't wait to get these two rigs out on the rocks to try them out!

I worked on getting the Magnaflow exhaust painted and mounted over the weekend.

Here's a couple quick pics. Painted, cleared and added an aluminum tip to it.
I'll have more info on it later.

Still trying to get the body and lights wrapped up so I can get them pics posted.

Thanks for looking!"thumbsup"

Jumping back to the GK-Ecto. As I wait for the Ecto body in clear to appear in stock ANYWHERE, I placed an order with IERC for a few alum upgrades to the chassis and yet obtained Ecto body.

Pictured is the Ecto raw alum sliders, Ecto raw alum visor, Ecto black alum roof rack, IERC scale banner and free stickers.

In this episode we'll be installing the raw alum Ecto sliders. They are designed to fit the width of the Ecto body sides. They also have the rear trailing arm mount built into them.

Fit and finish is spot on! All mounting holes line up perfectly and the rear trailing arm mounts hold the arms securely. IERC supplies spacers with the sliders that need to be installed in between the sliders and the arms.

I should mention that these sliders come in either raw alum or black powder coating. I chose the raw to match the battery tray and shock towers.

Change of plans on the GK-Ecto. Since the clear Element Ecto body is still out of stock EVERYWHERE and the planned stock date keeps getting pushed farther out, I decided to go ahead and use the Pro-Line Power Wagon body that I painted a few months ago.

I didn't really want to chop this body up just so that the bed would clear the rear tires and the sway bar, but my mind was changed when I realized I'll probably be waiting forever to order the Ecto body.

Anyways, here are the first look pics. I still have more body work to do and add some other details to do to it. I'll go into more detail later on about what I've done and have planned for it.

I chopped the frame just past the first hole so that I could move the bumper in as far a possible to get a better approach angle. I trimmed the grill out so that the winch would set inside the body. More work to be done here to make it look better.

In order for the tires to clear the bed when at full flex/compression, I narrowed up the bed by 12mm. I cut it down the middle and used E6000 to secure the two halves together. I still have some cosmetic work to do to make the seams look better.

I still need to narrow up the tailgate area and get it attached. I'm going to shorten the length of the bed a tad so that it will have a better departure angle.

Since I bought the Ecto bumper and accessories parts tree and seeing that it came with the Ecto roll bar, I decided to add it to the PW bed. I think it looks much better with it installed.

Hoping to get more work done on it tonight and get some updates posted tomorrow.:)

It may not be the body you wanted to use, but it's still coming out a-okay. Those gold shock towers look great next to the blue and black body.

Thanks Dirt![emoji1303] Don’t get me wrong, I’m lovin’ how this body looks on it. I was just having a hard time making myself cut up the bed to make it work on it. This body was going to be used on another build that is on the bench currently.

Agree on the gold towers. That was one of the reasons why I used them on the rear instead of the front![emoji3]

If you don't mind buying overseas, there's the Team C version available:

Oh, nice! That looks like a great copy of the Creep body at a great price! I have bought from A-Tees in the past. But that was before we had an ocean parking lot full of ships! Not sure how long it would take to get it here to the states now!

Thanks for the info! I may have to order one for a future build!

I thought something looked different.

So I bought 4 different bodies from them just to take advantage of the shipping cost earlier this year. I think it took 2-3 weeks.

Nice! At that price, one could buy 4 bodies for the price of one name brand body!

I'll have to check to see what the shipping cost is to ship to the states.

Something cool just got dropped off at the shop.

Ordered a couple whip antennae from Bad Andy at Twisted Tree RC. Cool little springy whips for my GK-Ecto and Phoenix rigs.

He has many different style whip tops to chose from. Also can customize the color and to the length desired.

The Ecto bumper parts tree also came with the Ecto mirrors and door handles. Added some silver paint pen magic to them and installed them. I'll probably add a drop of E6000 to the backside to keep them from turning.

Close-up shot of the tiny eight-ball on the whip! Can’t wait to see it in action out on the trails!

Worked on covering up the cut-seams in the bed. I cut a thin piece of aluminum, put a slight bend in it and attached a diamond plate decal to it. Secured it using the roll bar mounts. Covers up the seam nicely!

I still need to fix the bed area where I cut out around the shock towers. I also may add some faux wood decals to the bed floor to give it an old look.

Nice progress Brian! Really came out looking great.

Fun fact. My Pirate Wagon is using a Team C Powerwagon body!

On that note... I just picked up another GK kit.... $220... had to!

Thanks soze!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

I would have never guessed your Pirate Wagon body wasn't a Pro-Line! It looks awesome and is cool to see out on the rocks!

I did take a look at the Team C bodies on AsiaTees. There are a ton of bodies offered by them at an incredible low price. I may try to pick a couple of these bodies up as long as the shipping isn't too outrageous!

Congrats on another GK Kit! It is a hell of a deal at just over $200 bucks! I bought 2 of them recently (as seen in this build thread) and I've been thinking about picking up another before the deal is gone forever! This kit is awesome and can be used for so many different types of builds!

Looks fantastic. Love the low, lean stance.

I agree 100% on the Element kits, I've got 3 now and debating a 4th.

Man those antennas are cool. Another thing on the to-buy list!

Thanks guys!"thumbsup"

@OSRC, just heard that the GK Kit lowered in price again. I may have to pick up my 3rd!;-)

Small minor update. Did some silver paint marker detailing and added some paint to the faux winch. I used Tamiya Camel Yellow on the winch. I thought using that color might tie it in with the gold Rock Pirates rear shock towers.

Holy Smokes, that looks perfect!

Damn - especially the winch detailing.

Wonder if I can get close to that with a damn brush...:lmao:
